Popeye's Fried Chicken - Yummmmmmmm

REAL fried chicken IS still to be found in fastfood  ..

Ever since KFC went to their new trans-fat free method of cooking their chicken, it just doesn't taste the same as it did before, IMHO    ..  So I've been looking for something more like the good ole home-fried version ...   I found it at Popeye's ..

I decided to try it yesterday for the first time, after seeing the Popeye's deals being offered on T.V.   I got one of their 2-piece meals (2 pieces, dark or white meat + biscuit) for $1.99 and was delighted to discover it had that familiar taste, like mom's chicken did, fried in Crisco shortening or some such ..

I think I'm going to be eating Popeye's chicken for lunch at work for a longggg time ..

Sooo, you're going to eat fried chicken and a biscuit at lunch, at work?  In the middle of the day?  Even given light of your current situation where your employer wants to have a FAN installed in YOUR office b/c of the smell?  C'mon Paul.  Skip the biscuit and save your co-workers.  A little advanced planning would really serve you well.  I cannot eat a white flour biscuit without paying the consequence of some gas later in the day, and plan the timing carefully where I won't be around anyone other than my family.  (Even the kids are tucked soundly into bed when I work out my timing).  So, if you continue to choose foods like breaded chicken and biscuits WHILE at work, why then are you offended when they talk about installing an exhaust fan for you??

I know you won't reply, I just wonder how many times a man hasta' be told to watch the carbs.

Paul,

Can you see why after a post like the other day where you boss is talking about installing a fan in office in the new building, where the exhaust leaves the building right away, would make a person on OH to come to the conclusion that you *are* eating the biscuits??  You speak often about how horrific your gas is, you've told stories about not "making it" to the bathroom in time, and then you also speak up often about the carbs you indulge in.  Do you see what I'm saying?

Listen Paul, the only time I get GAWD awful gas is when I indulge in carbs that don't work for my body.  I'm almost 2 years out, I know what works and what doesn't.  You're further out than me, you've got to be noticing a pattern with the foods you're eating by now.  I mean, seriously, it's 3:30pm at my house and I haven't farted even ONE time today and I've been awake since 7am.  I don't eat foods that make me fart b/c I'm considerate to people around me, even my kids.  My husband will, from time to time, get to witness me after I've indulged in a food that I shouldn't be eating.  It's a really good thing that he loves me as much as he does!  Lol!

It seems to me, from keeping up with your posts, that you *do* eat the biscuits.  And the flour tortillas at Chipotle.  And the Hawaiian Punch that caused you so much issue that one time.  If you're truly NOT eating the biscuit and products similar, I do not feel your employer would be looking to customize your office with it's own air supply.

A lot, but not all DS'ers get gas from anything made with while flour or sugar. The potty 30 minutes after you eat is not anything I've ever had and I don't recall anyone saying it was a problem. White flour & sugar = gas for most.

For me personally, it's pasta that turns me into a fart factory. so I avoid or time my pasta eating. Nothing I've eaten has made me run for the bathroom.

Um, can I say your surgeon is full of Sh#%!  I never ever go to the bathroom 30 minutes after I eat.  I go once or twice in the morning and them MAYBE later in the evening..MAX!  The evening poos actually only happen maybe once or twice a month, if that.  Yes your poop is going to stink a bit more, but Lets face it, Sh#% Stinks!  Don't get yourself in a rut.  It's not bad at all.  The DS bowel issues are so overly exaggerated, it's not even funny.

Well, sometimes our doctors aren't as with it as the posters here, sorry to say. There's a lot more you can do besides carry spray.

Lori mentioned the basics, which is processsed "white carbs". White bread, rice, tortillas and pasta are usually gas causers. Many of us eat them anyway, but save them for weekends or later in the day, so if we get the farts later, we're at home.

Probiotics are also very helpful, and many of us take them daily. The more "bugs" in it the better, like billions.

Sugar alcohols are another common culprit for bad gas, and even though I'm not very gassy and have no poop issues to speak of, I've had a few horrible run-ins with sugar alcohols, particularly in sf gummi bears.

As far as the 30 minutes thing, your doctor is FULL OF BEANS!!

Ummm, are you sure Dr. S.  is actually doing the DS.  He has been a bait and don't switch in the past.  He used to tell horror stories to get you to get the RNY, just be sure.
