You know, Carmelita, I almost gave up several times, but something kept pushing me along.

Your sister is going to love her VSG.  I love mine--it just wasn't enough for me.  For the first time in my adult life, I feel full when I eat thanks to my small stomach.  I am glad that Kaiser is at least providing the VSG for their patients.  I am hopeful for people like you and your sister.  I see that you are starting out at a lower BMI, so hopfully, you'll have good results.  For what it's worth, while I haven't lost weight since last August, I have maintained what I have lost.  I have never maintained a weight loss for this long before.

That's great news!

I have to say overall I am a fan of Kaiser, and I think they provide great medical care. But they have really dropped the ball when it comes to bariatric surgery.

Hopefully as more people win these appeals, that department will rethink their protocol and start approving the DS for the people that need it. In the meantime thank goodness Diana and Larra are here to help!

I completely agree with you, Jen.  I have chronic pain and depression, and Kaiser has provided me with excellent medical care for years.  That's the reason why I keep using Kaiser.  They have great physicians and skilled surgeons; they just need to change their views on bariatric surgery.  Kaisers view on the DS is the only area (that I know of) where Kaiser is dead wrong.

Unfortunately, I don't believe that Kaiser will rethink their protocol on their own.  I believe that they will have to be forced.  Kaiser is dead set on their views of the DS.

I am so grateful for Diana and Larra.  I would not be where I am without their direction, expertise, and most of all, their generosity!

Thank you, Jen!
