Oh Dina girl, I feel for ya! I'm so sorry you're still in the hospital... BUT, it sounds like you're finally on the right track! I read some of your blog, and I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with Dr. H. Like you said, what an ah ha moment - of course you need to be nutritionally sound to effectively heal!!! Smart doc, going back to the basics!
I didn't realize all this was from NSAIDs. Damn, how scary!
I know it probably doesn't help, but this is a big lesson, for me at least. I pop NSAIDs like candy right now (pre-op) for my spinal stenosis and osteoarthritis. In fact, that's how I found the DS in the first place, I googled WLS and NSAIDS. I wasn't going to spend the rest of my life skinny but still in pain! So I gratefully thank you for your cautionary tale - I will for sure only take NSAIDS as directed, and with food, and as a last resort. Wow.
Take care - and know this six weeks will fly by and soon you'll be all healed up and ready to start in on your lengthy, detailed, prioritized food list!!!
And know we're here for you in the meantime!

Oh dear, Dina! I should think that you would have been sprung by the hospital by now. Hopefully you can go home real soon this week!

Has not weighed myself since 1/2010. Letting my clothes gauge my progress instead.
I am so sorry that you are going through all this. I am impressed that Dr. H took a look at the big picture and is going to help your body to heal itself by getting you nutritionally sound. It feels like a smart plan...although I can't even imagine how I personally would be able to cope with it. I have fantasies every night about cooking for a big family, lots and lots of food...But at least I'm just thinking about food and not actually eating it like I used to! Make that list for real...it will probably be good therapy!
