How do you calculate how much your excess skin weighs?

Says 211 in my ticker, though, not 221.

Dyslexia??? LOL!  I saw it wrong, too :)

Oh, I think maybe the highest weight minus your goal weight?  Since I can't see you're ticker while I'm writing - I don't know for sure.  But maybe THAT'S where it came from?

ETA:  I just looked at your ticker - nope!  But I think, using the formula . . . .
you'd have 9.6-12lbs of excess tissue with your current loss of 120lbs (from highest).

nope my poor math skills
should of been 121 from highest weight 326 to 205 currrent weight= 121 lbs lost I gave you an extra 100lb loss, oops an extra century club

so excess of 121 would be low of 8lbs to a high of 10 lbs ( 121 x0.06%= 8lb, and 121 X .08=9.5lbs) of excess at this time
Gratitude is my attitude

This question is great.  I appreciate that you asked this question.  I think that is why my surgeon always tells me that I will probably never get to a normal BMI without surgery because I started out at such a high weight.  My highest was probably around 450 so I am guessing that I have a lot of excess skin!  I will just be happy if I get under 200 I think.  Thanks again.  THis was a great question.

My DS surgeon has told me that people always overestimate how much the "extra" skin really weighs. He said I might have 6-15 pounds TOPs and I have lost 200 pounds.

I like Amanda's math.

I LOVE Amanda's math.  But I think the caveat needs to say 'and they can find and remove about half of your excess' - cuz that's about where mine fell in the math.

Back in the day, when I had gone from 293 to 157, I had an extended anchor-cut tummy tuck.  I thought FOR SURE I had ten pounds of skin.  Nope.  Less than 5.  I looked a hell of a lot better tho.  That's what matters.

I dunno...personally, I just look at it, grab it, lift it, and make a general guess about how much could be lopped off.  LOL

My abdomen...I can grab it in my hands and lift it without a struggle, so I'd guess it weighs maybe 5-7 pounds.  Then, I can grab a big handful from each thigh, but it doesn't feel like it weighs too much.  Maybe 2 lbs altogether.  There's a little flub on each arm...hardly weighs anything at all, probably less than a pound altogether.

I think the formula I've seen before is about 10 lbs. for every 100 lbs. lost, on average ..

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

Well I honestly think there is NO way of knowing until you get it removed. I lost 300 lbs, and I thought I had TONS of skin. But, when all the excess was removed (long story short) i only had 8 lbs of excess skin between my mid section and chest area.
