Excited but alittle scared..

Well i woke up this morning and the reality hit that one week from today I will be having surgery. I am so excited, I lost 9lbs on my first week of the liquid diet and I can't wait to start the weight loss process but I would be lying if I didn't say I am scared. ONE WEEK.  I'm having all kinds of weird thoughts, I've been down the "what if" road all night.  There is no way I would ever change my mind but I could use some reassurance. Has anyone else gone through this?  I'm sorry if I sound like I am whinning but I just need to get this of my chest.  Thanks for listening.

Hi,

I think just about everyone has gone through this stage.  For myself, at the two week point I was freaking a little bit.  At this time I heard back from my insurance company, and it all became so real.  It's a big deal, and I think it normal to have some anxieties about it.  For me, it felt like I was stepping off a ledge....just hoping it would be ok when I landed.  When I did make that step...it wasn't nearly as bad as I had set myself up to believe it would be.

Afew days before the operation I had a calm about it and trusted my doctor, and that God would take care of me.

You will do great!!  So excited your day is finally almost here.

Everyone goes through that "two week freak" period- sometimes it is long some times it is shorter.  It's normal!  Try to just breathe and relax.  I know I personally read and re-read tons of information on this site and the forums!  Everything will be fine!  One thing I did to keep busy was to make sure the house was super clean and that I had everything I needed for when I got home from the hospital.  I can't even describe how good it felt to crawl into my bed that was freshly made with fresh, clean high thread count sheets when I got home!  When you are feeling up to it give us an update and let us know how you are doing!

Thanks so much., I have been working on my packing because I am having the surgery out of state and I will be staying with my mother for a few weeks after the surgery. I have been making some shopping lists for the grocery store and making sure that my house is in order when I return.  Thank god it is normal I was starting to feel like something was wrong with me.  Hugs to all of you for your support. It means so much.

I'm pretty sure eveyone goes through this TIffany; if you didn't there would be something wrong with you. You're going to have major surgery and it is a big deal; you're about to change your life forever; many things will never be the same. Not only that, but it's going to hurt; you're going to be miserable for a few weeks if you're like most people. For me the misery lasted about 6 weeks, but then I was a revision and had to have two surgeries; the first on lasting 8 1/2 hours and the second one taking 4 1/2 hours. It hurt and it was miserable; but I would go through it all again in a heartbeat.

If you want to see my first year in pictures here it is:

Try and relax; you're normal, things will be fine, it is going to hurt a bit, but you'll get over it and have a wonderful life to follow.
