Do big calves eventually go away?

I have lost alot of weight in the last... almost 6 months.. But I am melting from the top down and am now looking kinda weird.   I lost the sides of my waist and my back fat roll and alot of my lower arms and face..but I have a fat pouch right in the middle of my belly ( not on the sides at all anymore) and look like Im pregnant.. and also my calves are still huge...
When I was really toned and in good shape at age 18 I had muscular but curvy legs that were great.. Well. I got bigger and bigger and carried my weight all over and my calves got huge at 312.6 lbs!   They are still huge and not losing proportionally to the rest of me. I look like I have a small waist in a dress... then you look down and see my fat calves and it is so dissapointing .  I dont want to build more muscle in them... i want them to shrink but Im not sure if they can.

Did any of you that had really big calves pre op lose them and they became normal size again?

I am an all over weight carrier and not one of those that has skinny apendages and just a round middle or pear.. Im a fluffy hourglss shape.

Thanks.

Me too! I am losing weight unevenly and differently than I have in the past. My big tummy makes it hard to find pants that fit. I figure that my poor calves really built up due to carrying around all that weight. They are still huge and it feels more like muscle than fat. I just have to figure that it will eventually even out.

Look at my legs.  I couldn't wear boots when I was fat because they wouldn't fit around the calves.

Yes, it does change for most of us.  Some women genetically have large calves.  For example, Hilary Clinton.  Looks good in pants and unfortunate in a dress.  She carries a lot of her weight in her legs/calves.

Great question. I am almost 2 years out with the same calves I had before wls, and I hope to fit into a nice pair of tall boots eventually! So far, no luck.

I lost almost all my weight on top first and then the bottom started shrinking.  Now I am all bones and yes your calves go down.  Mine were HUGE and now they are nice an shapely.  I don't have chicken legs but they are proportionate with my small body (I am currently in size 2 pants).

My legs were always heavier and after 200 pounds gone, they are really saggy...sorry, but I can fold my calves onto themselves and don't even get me started about my former thunder thighs...let's just say if I had an extra $60K to blow, I'd get a total body lift.  Sorry to be a bummer, but this has been my experience.

During the weight loss phase, I did look and feel like I was melting.  No extra fat on top, plenty in the middle.  A complication for me was that, due to being an idiot and not eating enough, I developed a protein deficiency, then edema, so my legs swelled up like tree trunks.  Even fat, my calves and ankles had been small in proportion to the rest of my body.  Notsomuch with the edema.  That all happened around the time I should have reached my goal weight, but I was carrying around 40 - 50 pounds of water in my lower body.  By the time I got that all fixed, and the water came off, I didn't looked like a melted candle any more.  Now, my calves are the right proportion to the rest of my body again.
I would like to add that, at the time of the weight loss, it even felt/looked like my face was melting.  My eyelids seemed droopier, and stuff seemed to be hanging.
I'm 2 years and 3 months out from surgery now, and my body seems to have shifted around to the point that I'm very pleased with the body proportions.  (I don't exercise religiously, but I don't spend all my time on my butt, either.)
I hope things even out for you, too!

It's FAT ankles for me.  My legs have shrunk and then you look at my ankles and YUCK!  I have worn weights around my ankles, done all the ankle exercises I can find, still this fat just clings to my ankles.  SIGH. Need a lot of plastic surgery done. DOUBLE SIGH.  Need to find a million dollars.  LOL need to find 20 extra years of youth!

Sadly, I still have big calves and ankles......when I got down to 116, they finally looked pretty normal, but the rest of me looked like a cartoon stick figure.   There's one pic of me on my profile taken with a hot dog - you can see that my calves are almost as big around as my thighs!
