That what I keep saying that we have / No I mean my husband has spent way more than my surgery costs on toys. I think a healthy me would be more fun than all his toys put together!!!

I went to Mexico and paid outta pocket for my DS rather than having the "approved procedure (RNY)" paid for by my insurance locally.  Yes, I would do it again in a heartbeat.  This is about the ENTIRE REST OF YOUR LIFE, and the only life you'll have, btw!!  This is NOT a dress rehearsal.

That it will never come again
Is what makes life so sweet.
Believing what we don't believe
Does not exhilarate.

That if it be, it be at best
An ablative estate --
This instigates an appetite
Precisely opposite.

Yes I need to keep believing that I am worth having a life. The surgery well give me my life back.

Thanks for your reply.

Ditto what Leanne said - I forewent insurance paying for RNY & went to Mexico (yes, we even had the same dr!) as a self-pay patient.  I wish I had done it 10 years ago.  Every cent of it was a loan, it was NOT something I could afford, yet I have no regrets - that says a lot.

I would definitely do it again.  I'm sure there are people who "only" had positive effects in terms of their health, but I have to say, for me at least, life is sweeter and happier than it has been in a very long time.

A few turds have tried to insinuate I'm being selfish not using this money for my family (as if being a working single mom all my life didn't mean squat in the sacrifice for my family department).

But when my family wants to have a good looking garden, Mom can't bend in the garden anymore. When they want to go to Six Flags, mom can't possibly do all that walking. Mom's housecleaning is suffering, because Mom's back, hips and feet are in constant pain. Mom's looking for a job, and although it's tough and would normally not feel ashamed to take a retail or food position, there is no way she can stand on her feet all day. Even the fact she is normally a techie, some tech support jobs require minimum lifting requirements that she can't do (for moving computer equipment, etc).

And this mom's afraid she won't be around long enough to enjoy her grandchildren, either. I AM doing this for my family.

Thanks I need that because I have a few turds telling me the same thing and that is making me second guess paying for surgery.

Thanks for your reply!!!

I was going to reply and found that I couldn't say it any better than what you did, so I'm going to let your response stand for mine as well :)
