Does French onion soup broth count as liquid?

The broth sounds wonderful, but you'll want it made ahead of time and frozen in manageable containers since you'll probably not feel like making much from scratch real soon post-op.

I think its a YMMV on the onions and here's why. I ate hot and sour soup, not just the broth, post-op almost immediately. It was a Godsend and went down so well. However, even today, if I were to eat French Onion Soup, I'd need a few beanos and then I'd still be playing with fire and crossing my fingers and hoping I didn't blow up with gas. That's just how onions work on me.

Croutons are a nice addition once you get further out because you might as well get used to the idea that you'll want to use your precious tummy space for protein intially.

This is one thing that saved me after surgery.  I could not find anything that tasted good or sounded good.  My husband made me some french onion soup which he had purried the onions,  It was so good I kept going back for more.  Once I was able to eat more solid food I would have the melted cheese on top.  I love French Onion Soup.  I used to think it was hard to make.  Once I tried it it is so easy and tastes so much better.
