I know he glues his incisions rather than suture them, but it looks like there may possibly be an internal suture that's not happy?

Maybe, that is also the area that is kinda lumpy and just odd shaped from how it was before. Do you think I should email him the picture and ask if there might be something wrong? Scabbed over it didnt look as terrible but after I took off the top layers it just looks like there is a hole there and I am terrified of touching it. I just don't know if that particular spot is just taking longer to heal. At 2.5 months out I imagine it should have completely healed by now but I have no idea what to expect.

Well the pics wont show for me because I am at work.

But sounds as if your worried there is an abscess. Go buy some epsom salt, mix it in some ho****er(hottest your body can tolerate). Soak a cloth and pace it over it. Do this a couple times a day....if its an abscess or infection it will draw it out. If its just scar tissue there will be nothing.

Just something to try.

I had an incision that looked like that near my button after I had my gallbladder removed, it hurt to touch and it oozed a little bit. It ended up being a staph infection and I was immediately put on antibiotics and had to use gauze to catch anything that drained. It cleared up quickly.

I would call your DR and have him look at it, Its better to be on the side of caution.

Good Luck!

Remember that most of the work, measurements, and removal of tissue was done through that hole. It is normally the one that takes longest to heal because it had the most trauma. If you are worried, send the photo to your surgeon to be on the safe side.

That's EXACTLY how my incision above the belly button looked!  It still has a darker spot in the middle of it where the scab was (although no scab for quite a while).  I really think it looks normal--at least normal for Dr. R's patients.

Oh and my scars still itch.  I was just scratching them earlier.  ha!

Looks normal to me, but I ain't a doctor and I don't play one, anywhere, so when in doubt call....

But it looks pretty much like my belly button one did. The skin doesn't look particularly red or inflammed, and I assume it's not hot to the touch? An itchy incision is a healing incision, in my non-medical experience. My belly button one took the longest time to heal, and still has a roundish spot to the scar as opposed to the others that are pin straight. Like Gail said, they do the most work through that site. My op report states that that incision was somewhat larger than the others. At one of my followup appointment's, my surgeon's nurse practitioner confirmed that the belly button incision is the only one that my surgeon uses an internal suture on. So the knotted, lumpy spot I felt was where the suture was, under the skin.

I would stop touching it and allow it to heal. Keep an eye on it though, and if it starts to give any evidence of infection (red, hot to touch, you run a fever) immediately call your doc.
