How much do you eat ~ Am I a freak?

My wife did not want me to shave my head originally, now she would hate it if I grew my hair back.  I don't know if woman leer at me in unbridled lust, but I can dream can't I.

I don't know if you noticed, but the "fashion" of shaving ones head first become popular among blacks, (I think it might have been Michael Jordan who made it fashionable), and eventually were picked up by whites.   Now that more and more white people are shaving their heads I figure blacks will go back to growing Afros.

Going as far back as the Zoot Suits blacks have always been the fashion setters.   As soon as it becomes "main stream", it is time for the fashion setters to do someone new.

I would love to hear what some of our Afro American OH'ers think of my review of American Fashion trends.

I couldn't have eaten that dinner as a pre-op but I probably could have eaten that breakfast.

Now?  Not a chance.  Even at 3 1/2 years out I still have a great deal of restriction.  I started out with a 2.8oz sleeve (approx.) and it hasn't stretched very much.  On a day where I can eat a lot (a lot for me) I might be able to eat 4 oz of steak and a few (3 or 4) bites of veggies.

My surgeon gives a rather large sleeve in general.  I want to say his standard is 5 or 6oz (it's a 60f bougie).  There was a mixup in supplies for my surgery, and I ended up with a 50f bougie.  I can easily put down a meal like that, but only for dinner.  It's like my tummy wakes up at dinner time, but, I'm also usually famished by then.  The last time we went to a steakhouse I ate-

a piece of bread with butter
1/2 my salad with ranch
my entire 7oz steak (precooked weight)
5 bites of sweet potato loaded with butter
5 broccoli florets in butter & herbs
4 bites of cheesecake

Granted, we were there for quite some time, socializing with friends and taking our time eating.  So this was over the course of about 2 hours total.  But, for being 4 months out, I think that's a ton of food.  I certainly can't eat like that everyday, or for every meal.  I'm usually good for one "gut buster" like that every few days or so.  Even still, I didn't feel overfull or sick or stretched or anything.  Actually, I felt LESS full than I would have as a preop at the same restaurant.  Weird.

Kerry,
It would probably take me 3 days to eat that much. Holding on to my restriction for dear life!

I'm like Samaro and MajorMa, can't consume that amount if my life depended on it.  My VSG was done in 2004 and I still have good restriction, plus I can't eat gluten at all or I'm like Lori B and go into gas pain hell.

Hi Kerry,

The breakfast, not a problem.  Sounds really good actually, I haven't eaten in about 24 hours  lol.

The dinner would probably be a bit different.  I probably would have done a few nuts, half the roll (maybe all of it), definitely all the salad and probably a third of the steak and potato.  The apple crisp would have been fine too, that's far enough between bites I could fini****

The weird thing for me is that when I'm at work I tend to eat, not so much at home.  Good thing I usually work a lot.  I also find I'm more compliant with my supplements when I work.  I'm so very, very strange....

Anyway, you've inspired me to go get something wonderfully good to eat for my poor growling stomach.

  Have a great day!

  Wenda

Prior to all my hernia and constipation BS, there were some days I could eat like that but I couldn't eat like that everyday.  I'd have junkyard dog days and then anorexic model days so it ends up evening itself out over the course of a week. I remember once, I was comparing notes with a coworker as to what we'd eaten that day.  I had outeaten her 3:1, she has no idea I had surgery, and even she was like "Damn, girl!"

I'll be glad when I recover from this second surgery so I can enjoy food again!!

Hey Kerry,

for dinner at Roadhouse I have the same thing except a 6 or 8 oz steak (the smallest they have) and eat the entire steak.  I usually eat all of my potato and depending on my plans for the night I usually have two rolls. I typically pass on the peanuts tho. I usually split a dessert with someone as well.

For breakfast I would minus the sausages but have 4 eggs instead and probably have 2 slices of bacon.

I feel like a freak sometimes too...
