How much do you eat ~ Am I a freak?

Hum, NO WAY I could eat that much right now at one time, but I am only 8 months out.  When surgery was done I had a 3.0 ounce tummy.

For the dinner, I could have ate a few peanuts, a few bites of the salad, 4-5 ounces of the steak, none of the potato, and none of the apple crips and ice cream!

For breakfast (which is my largest meal of the day), I could have ate the eggs, cheese, and about 2 ounces of the sausage.  I wouldn't have had any of the toast.

I can eat more now than I could 2 weeks post-op.  Some days I notice I feel like a junk yard where I feel like I am eating everything but the kitchen sink, and other days I struggle to make myself get in my protein!

So thankful for my DS! 1/20/2012 - SW 290/CW 155 - 1 year to lose, 1.5 years and counting maintaining!

Kerry, we have a Texas Roadhouse here too and I have eaten what you have listed except I eat all the steak and potato. Oh and 2 rolls. Plus I'm usually drinking wine at the same time. But I must admit I don't eat all the salad, just about half with blue cheese dressing.

Edit: Oh and for breakfast on Sunday's we go out and I order 2 eggs fried hard, 2 pieces of bacon and either three pieces of french toast or a waffle or 2 big pancakes. I eat every last bite with butter and syrup. Regular mornings it is a boiled egg with butter, english muffin with peanut butter, yogurt and a piece of fruit.

I couldn't eat all of what you ate at dinner. The times when I do have a salad or soup before my entree, I can't eat much of the entree - maybe most of the protein (usually chicken) and a bite or two of broccoli (I never order potatoes - don't even want them on my plate).

I had breakfast at a diner on Sunday, and I had 2 eggs over easy, 2 small chicken sausage patties, and the inside of a panake (didn't eat the edges), and I was STU
FFED.

And I can't drink with meals - ot because of some silly RNY rule, but simply because it makes me too full to eat a good amount of protein
.

I thought I could eat a lot at once, but it appears I may have been mistaken...

Why just the inside of a pancake? if you dont mind my asking.

Well, it's very important, you see...

I like my pancakes practically disintegrating because they'rre so mushy from all the butter and syrup. The edges of the pancake don't absorb as well as the middle. Pre-op, I always ate my least favorite parts of a meal first to save the best parts for last, so I woul eat all the edges of the pancake and then the deliciously squishy middle. Now that I don't have enough stomach real estate to eat the whole pancake, I go straight for my favorite part and ditch the rest
!

Yes, I'm weird.

But I will say, it's not a bad life when you only have room to eat your favorite parts (once you've eaten protein of course, which is also a favorite if it's something smothered in cheese!)!

I don't have a clue what size my sleeve started out---no one was using bougies back then. I vary from day to day as to how much I can/want to eat, but yes, I could pretty much eat what you've listed. I would probably have had most of a salad, but no dressing---I like my veggies naked, thank you. I would have eaten all of an 8-ounce ribeye, accompanied by a yeast roll and some onions and peppers. I probably wouldn't have had but a few bites of the baked potato, but I would have taken it home and eaten it later.

I eat BIG at breakfast. I wake up hungry now---pre-op, I rarely ate breakfast. Now, it's the main reason I get up in the morning. (Well, that and because I gotta poop. *grin*)

Hi Kerry:

I don't think you're a freak at all.

There have been some days when I can really pack it in. For example, I went to dinner with a friend a couple of weeks ago and I was able to eat the entire 11oz prime rib, half of the appetizer platter, a salad w/ranch dressing (no croutons for me), and some creme brulee for dessert (with decaf coffee and cream.) Granted, this was spaced over a couple of hours, but still.

And then there are days where nothing appeals much and it's all I can do to ensure I get the basics in.

Typically, my lunch and afternoon snack tend to be my largest meals during the week; dinner is the largest on the weekends (when we eat with family or friends.)

Could I eat what you had for breakfast? Skip the eggs and substitute more sausage, skip one of the slices of bread and I could do it.

Well Kerry I'd say your a freak but not for how much you eat but for eating peanuts in the shell ! I usually take them out of the shells...but seriously I can't eat that much and if I would try my friends and family tell me I get a look on my face as I feel like I am having a heart attack...or what I think it might feel like.....frankly I really don't feel the need to eat much and am fine with it.....I love my DS mainly for the fact I can eat many different things yet found I don't care for some foods I used to love...like chili .....but love blu cheese crumbles that I couldn't stand before.??? Who knew?? Anyways take care friend..........

Well Kerry, scootch over, 'cause I'm sitting next to you on the freakazoid bench!

I have eaten at Texas Roadhouse (love it) and had what you did except I don't usually do dessert.  I take home leftovers and usually eat those a few hours later.

I don't usually have a big breakfast, but I didn't preop either.  I'm not a huge fan of eggs (how I wish I were!) .  I like yogurt for breakfast, sometimes low carb toast and tea.

But I can eat a fairly large amount.  Last Friday DH and I went out to Red Lobster.  I had a cheddar biscuit, a caesar salad (about 3/4 of it) a lobster tail, 1lb of crab legs, and about six shrimp.  It was heavenly. I ate every last bit of the lobster and crab.  I had potatoes with that meal but only ate one or two forkfulls of that.

My DH worries sometimes that I eat too much.  But he knows I have to get the protein in and he can't argue with the results!

We went to Texas Roadhouse a few times this summer since one opened nearby. I may eat a couple peanuts and a bite of a roll loaded with cinnamon butter.  I get either a 1/2 rack of ribs or the grilled shrimp. I usually eat about 1/2 - 3/4 of my salad and get green beans as my other side. I always end up bringing something home but not that much. And I'm known for barely making it into the house before I'm diving into the take-out container to finish my dinner!
I took my Mom to Red Lobster today and ordered the Broiled Seafood Platter. I ate almost all of my salad, ate all of my seafood and 2 bites of rice. I was really hungry for protein today and didn't even want the cheddar garlic biscuits. I worry that I eat too much too.
