Kerry:
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend.  It does make it a little easier knowing that he died doing what he loved.

I believe very much in the actively grieving process.  I planted a pear tree when my grandpa died.  It's in my front yard and every day I say hello to the tree (yes, I'm a little crazy, but not because I talk to trees).

Every year I celebrate the day of the dead.  I build an altar in my house I put my (dead) loved ones favorite foods and their photos.

I also regularly donate money in my loved ones' names.

A friend of mine always tells me to lean into the pain.

Oh Kerry,

I'm so very sorry to hear about your neighbor and friend. you know, in life i don't think many of us can TRULY say that we have lots of friends - maybe associates - but not lots of friends.  when you find a good one, you hang on to him and that's obviously what you had.  to lose someone unexpectedly is so devastating and can come as as a true shock, especially when they're the last person you'd think anything would happen to.  being such a strong and robust person showed his dedication to loving life and those around him.

my heart goes out to you and his family as well at this very sad time.

I'm so sorry Kerry. It's hard to believe sometimes you can be here and then just gone. Thinking of you and the man's family too.

It is hard to lose a good friend. Your right he passed donig what he loved, if like most people, that is the way to go when the Lord comes a calling.

Prayers for you, his family and others during this time of surprise.

Life is so fragile, and tomorrow is not promised.  I am sorry you lost your friend.  I am sad that  his family lost him so young in life!  It doesn't seem fair.  But, he died with his boots on!  That is how I want to go!
