Flu shots, anyone?

So, when I first began reading this forum...(well stalking it actually!) I read that we needed to make sure to get flu shots, and if I remember right a pnumonia shot.  Our company gives us flu shots every year for free, to try to keep us from getting sick and missing work.  I got mine Wednesday morning, and now today, all of the glands in the right side of my neck are rock hard, I'm feverish, have a nasty headache, my bones hurt and I'm f-ing FREEZING!!!  I know some people say that the shots don't GIVE you the flu, but man I sure do feel like crap!

Does anyone else get their yearly vaccine?  Should I have waited until next year, since I'm a baby DSer still?  Do I really NEED a pnumonia vaccine?  Any advice would be appreciated.....ugh.  Off to take a warm bath and some tylenol (I'm still afraid of NSAIDS).

I'm not the right person to ask, since my family doesn't vaccinate, but I hope you feel better soon! Being sick, sux!!

It is common to have flu like symptoms or even a small flu after getting a flu shot. My husband got one on Wednesday and on Friday and today he is having similar symptoms.   Tylenol is good for you to take to help with the aches. Get some rest. It will pass soon.

What do you think about getting a shot for pnumonia?  Needed? I had aspiration pnumonia TWICE last year, due to my crapband, and boy it sure did suck!

I don't know if DSers need to have a pneumonia shot or not, but if I had pneumonia twice last year you bet I'd be in line for one. You might want to consider getting one jsut to be on the safe side.

Shingles is a strain of herpes.  I didn't know they made such a vaccine!  Very cool.  Maybe someday, they make one for the herpes I get on my mouth!  They are so annoying!

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the Shingles vax is the Chicken Pox vaccination. LOL Because every time I think of Herpes Simplex from learning the difference between a cold sore and STD in college I hear Eddie Murphy in my head from that line in Beverly Hills Cop. :)

Chicken pox is a herpes virus (zoster: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varicella_zoster_virus ). Zostavax ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zostavax ) is not used to prevent the Chickenpox though, only shingles which is caused by the same virus as chickenpox.

I got my flu shot this year because my nutrition levels are in the crapper and I figure I'm a sitting duck. Didn't get pneumonia shot.
