With support like this, how can you possibly NOT get the DS?  I'm KNOWING for you that this will work out.  I LOVE the people on OH...they're FANTASTIC.  Take all that support and GO FOR IT.

I am confused as to what exactly was submitted to your insurance.  I was under the impression that a procedure code was included in the request, and the DS has a very specific procedure code.  So that would make it seem to me that they did not submit the request specific for the DS?

Can someone set me straight here?  Is this not how it works?

I am unsure of what a bariatric surgeon's office does, but most office in most specialties are supposed to use CPT and ICD-9 codes which are codes used by the physician and medical assistants so the insurance companies know EXACTLY what procedure is going to be performed or has been used treated for each patient, so with that knowledge maybe her surgeon is sending the RNY codes to her insurance? :(

Dr h did a few of my coworkers, all rny , the did OK,   he used to practice in the Allentown pa area.
so a patient died last month, happens to the best of them,,,not the one I'm going to , but so be it.
I have been at this for 7 years,,, been to 13 doctors, all the most popular DS doctors in NYC, and two of the international champions of the DS.  the last one got me approved for the rny,  I canceled the surgery , and he felt he could not help,, changed doctors.  scheduled with Dr A on Nov 12. and he is a extraordinary surgeon.
remember, you didn't get fat overnight,,,,you need not get thin overnight, but you do need to get it right the first time.

Thanx everybody for the encouraging words!!! I really had my mind and heart set for the DS and this is really bumming me out because there is NO other DS surgeon I can find that will accept my insurance and that I am capable of getting to! Im trying for the appeal and I pray it all works out the way it should!
