To Shannon -hiding behind a block
Shannons opening post was correct, some of you folks really do get carried away with the vitimins.

Dr A's approach is the same as yours, and I get complete labs every two months. all my vitimins are provided to me free. so thats not a issue. and after two cycles of test, My team of 2 pcps, a endocrinologist and Dr A indicate that yours and my regiment is what i need. except I came up a little anemic, so eat more liverwurst, and take iron sulfate. 325

While I appreciate your opinion Walter, I do disagree with the premise that "some of you folks do get carried away with the vimimins." Everyone knows-and if they don't here's your heads up-you base your vitamin intake on your individual labs. With that in mind, I don't understand your statement about getting carried away with the vitamins. And as for my responses to Shannon, it concerned the cost and the pattern of posts that had me voice my concern for her. She chose to block me. Shame.
Eileen-I hope that she unblocks you and does come back. I too took the cheaper approach and did the ADEK's from Bari. Adv. as my insurance paid for them. As I had planned to-when it became apparent that my body needed more-I switched nearly everything to the amazing wonderful Vita lady.
It bothers me sooooo much that people do not follow the vitamen regimine required after the DS. I waited for 5 years to get this life saving/changing procedure and in that time I learned so much from all of you and the DS facts site-I've impressed my surgeon many times with my knowledge.
The vites along with eating properly and fluids are like someone said "NON NEGOTIABLE". It freaks me out when post ops come on here questioning things such as this, to the point it's one of the reasons I don't come on here anymore. These types of issues are pre-op and should be known far in advance of surgery!!!
I'm not sorry if this offends anyone either, it's my truth.

Thanks Ronda, I appreciate your input. I don't care if she unblocks me as much as she needs to listen to the vets-which I'm not a vet by any means. But I had to chime in because of her pattern of posts concerning cost of supplements was a red flag that had me worry for her welfare. So much for tough love, eh? *lol*
Hi Walter. Here's the problem with your supposition; Everyone's labs at 3 months should be pretty well within range regardless of their vitamin regimen. (With a few variances). It takes awhile for nutritional deficiencies to develop. Which is why so many vets recommend vitalady first THEN back off as needed.
Me personally I'm taking combination. But I'm gonna be on those labs like flies on poop. If my labs even start going down within "normal" I'll be upping my vites.
I believe you are wrong. BUT I respect your right to feel as you do. YOU didn't ask everyone for the right answer, and you're doing what's right for you. If, in the future, you find it was a mistake I imagine you'll deal with it. And if you were right, you'll have saved a fortune on vites. I disagree with you but I'm allowed. Just like you're allowed to disagree with me. I respect you standing up for what you think. Kudos on that.

" Everyone's labs at 3 months should be pretty well within range regardless of their vitamin regimen."
At the risk of adding a sub-bicker to an already ongoing bicker...I just checked my ONE month labs and they were already showing a low Vit D and low Protein.
But, if I recall, Keshishian told me that those numbers were due to the fact that I got essentially NO nutrition during that period and he was not in a hurry to fix something that would most likely fix itself. And it did.
The Vit D has, since then, gone up and down...but it didn't take me anytime at all to show up with abnormal results.
I have to ask - which labs did he run? As much as I LOVE Dr. A, and I DO, the labs that he requires/asks for are TOTALLY INADEQUATE. And he knows how I feel about that....he and I have discussed this and vitalady's schedule of vites.
Since I believe that the labs he requires is inadequate - I have the whole list that Vitalady's recommends run, my PCP orders them for me and then I fax them to Dr. A.
You are all of what, maybe 4 months out? OF COURSE YOUR LABS ARE FINE. Your body is still pulling **** from the stores it has built up.
I started with Vitalady's scheudle, then thought my labs were doing fine and dropped back to doing less than that b/c I thought it was over kill. I found out later, via my labs that I did IN FACT need her schedule and more than that in some areas.
And how the hell are your vitamins provided to you for free, not from Dr, A for sure. And what exactly are you taking and what are you having tested? I would love to see those labs!

100% dav, the VA provides the all, and i also retired military, and private h/c for life with the best drug benefits bar none. aspirin is free. about 8 vit, multis and supplemental vits, the usual stuff, and the labs check all my vit, and hormone levels , my pituitary does work right. been doing this since 69. I'm not your typical ds'r,
my labs were a wreck b4 wls, I'm being supervised by a endocrinologist that happens to be very attuned to wls at Cornell and nyu that is why I have them pulled every 2 months. to monitor the 25 k in meds that Ive been taking for years.

Good to know - lucky you on the health care and Rx benefits. Thank you Uncle Sam.
But you are far too early out to be saying that your vite schedule is "working" based on your labs. Your body is still pulling thing from the stores that it has built up.
Again - I'd like to see the list of labs and actual values to see what is really going on there.
And trust me - none of us has said you are a "normal" DS'er.
