What is a Z-pack going to do to my guts?

amoxicillin killed my guts, but that is the only antibiotic I've been on since surgery that I can recall giving me issues.

You can always take probiotics while on antibiotics to help.  Contrary to conventional logic, you can take them at the same time as the antibiotics (well, altering doses would probably be advisable...but you can take them both on the same day).  Probiotics have been shown to prevent antibiotic related diarrhea.

I DO feel better today, thank you!   My throat is 75% better.    Very tired though.   A bit of rumbly gut, but nothing I can't handle.   Thanks for your concern!

I was on a zpack a while back and it didn't hurt my stomach at all. It didn't really make me feel any better either though and had to take several rounds of it. At the time I felt so crappy that I stupidly didn't ask, but in hindsight, since it is only 5 days worth of pills vs how many days you usually have to take pills when on antibiotics, I believe a zpack might be time released? It's def worth asking your dr.

You know, you bring up a good point about the time released stuff....it might be, because of how you only need to take one a day, and I have not done well on other time-released drugs such as 12-hour Sudafed and Alleve.  He gave me a second script for it, just in case it didn't shut it down completely, but I do feel better today - the horrible razor blade feeling in my throat is better.    Now, at least, I can swallow.
