Okay, COUNT ME IN! I want a DS. Now, let's see if I can get one!

NSAIDs. My quality of life would be **** without them. I've had severe arthritis since I was just a 'baby' of 20, and NSAIDs are a fundamental part of my everyday life. Yet ANOTHER reason I love my DS!!!

I'll loan you 15% and make it an even 100% for DS.  How's that?

Well, in the past 24 hours, I would say I am 100% sure it's what I want. Whether or not it's what I can GET remains to be seen.
Pretty pretty please, don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f*ckin' perfect.

Remember, regarding the surgeon, that you can travel! There's Prof. Dr. Weiner in Frankfurt and Dr. Baltasar in...aw crap, where is he in Spain again? Or Dr. Ungson in Mexico or Dr. M. in Brazil. Or come back to the US if you wind up self paying and use someone like Dr. Peters or Dr. Daryl Stewart. They have excellent self pay rates. Oh yeah, or Dr. Kemmeter.

Atta girl! BTW, I love that Pink song. I sent the video to my teenage nieces the other day.

Fight for what you want, baby. If anyone can do it, it's YOU.

You were one poster that I was always surprised had "chosen" the RNY over DS. You posts were smart, and you knew about the choices, and I felt very frustrated that you thought you would be better served by the RNY. I'm so glad to see you here, because as biased as I am, I'm certain the DS will give a much more normal post op life.

I replied to this post because we have some similarities. I was vegetarian and vegan off and on, and don't have real issues with meat, I'm just not crazy about it.  My highest BMI was in the high 40's, and I had healthy eating habits before surgery. My weight could just idle when eating 800 calories a day, but if it neared 1000 calories a day, the weight showed up quickly, and no amount of exercise could reset my metabolism. It was shot.

I think it's very possible to do this on a vegetarian diet - but I don't. I could easily eat more seitan, eggs, TVP or whatever, but those things require more meal planning and cooking for me, and I hate cooking, so I make / buy whatever is easiest.

Many of us did not go to the 'top" surgeons, and are doing great. It's a choice I was comfortable making as a virgin surgery, without other major health complications to consider.

Again, I'm really happy to see you over here, and hope there can maybe be some more frequent  "high protein-meat free recipe" exchanges on this board.

X-posting this from another thread:

Does anyone know where I might find a study comparing the DS with RNY as far as long term results, patient satisfaction, etc.? I am sure they are out there and I want all of this together before I hear back from the doctor. I want to load my gun, so to speak. lol

Today, I was talking to my amazing, wonderful wife about this again over lunch and laying all the facts on the table. She said, "Well, you have all your facts..." and I started to interrupt her. She said, "Just shut up for a minute. This is right for you. You are certain. This is going to be best for you and this is what we are going to fight for. End of discussion." She rocks.
