I also have felt better these past post-DS years than ever in my life.  That doesn't make the DS a picnic.

You hit the nail on the head and kudos to you for being so honest..... I know I will probably get beat up but I'm going to chime in with you.... I am 13 months out and I have loose stools several time a day. I am so careful with what I eat. I stay away from high fructose sugars, watch the carbs, drink lact-aid milk, etc.. I might add from the loose stools that I have horrible, horrible hemmroids. They are so bad that I actually cry when I go to the bathroom and they throb for hours after. I have never, ever been constipated with the DS (as of yet, not to say it can't happen).

I'm not saying I don't love being thinner but I agree with you. It is not a picnic. I get so jelous when people talk abut what an easy time they have had. I had trouble from the get-go. I will admit it has got better (except the loose stools). I make sure I drink alot of liquids but I wake up every morning with nausea. It's gets better as soon as I start moving and get a drink, etc...
Sometimes I feel like I traded my one high blood pressure pill I was taking for multiple pills a day (and a shot of Vitamin B-12 once a month).... so am I really off pills? No....

I am just trying to be honest. You need to consider the good, bad and the ugly. Everyone has their own story and we need to respect it. You can read for yourself the good and the bad stories on here. The best part of this board is the veterans and their advice. I swear I trust them more than some doctors.

Good luck to you and decide what is best for you!!!

:-(.

Do you have room in your iron levels for a bit more supplemental iron? Maybe one of the traditionally constipating ones might help?

How about a bit of tincture of opium?

Can you tell me what tincture of opium is? Do you use it? Is it a supplemental iron? I can look it all up but if you can tell me I'd appreciate it. Sometimes I get scared of taking new things but I'd give it a shot if you recommend it.

It's an opioid that's used for severe diarrhea. http://www.medicinenet.com/tincture_of_opium-oral_liquid/art icle.htm

Lisa,

Have you tried Chia seeds?  I have never needed to try them, but there are a few people that swear by them. Chris (Crazyu) said they really help her bathroom issues.  If I had the problem, I would try Chis seeds or just plain fiber to bulk up my stools.

Michele

Aren't the newborns cute with their diehard assertions?

I'm on the constipation end of the spectrum, though thankfully not TOO far to that end. I've managed to avoid any 'rhoids and fissures and such by pouring on the fat. But boy, if I neglect the fat for just one day, I feel it for a couple days thereafter.

sometimes if you read a lot of the profiles for people you will see both their stories and talk about their reasoning for chosing the DS. Just a thought!
