How much of which Vit B's do you take.  My nutritionist recomended 500 mcg of B-12.  but I have read that we are more likely to become low on B6.  So should I take a B complex?  The Complex I am looking at only has 50 mcg of B-12 so I will have to take a B-12 anyways.  But to get the B6 do you take a complex?

I used to take a B-100 complex along with 5,000mcg of sublingual B-12 a day.  B6 is a vite we can actually go toxic on, and my level went through the roof.  So, I broke out all my B vites and take B1, B3, B5, B9, B12.  My recent labs showed all of those were too high, so I have cut them back to 3 times a week instead of everyday.  B's aren't usually something we as DSers have issue absorbing from supplements it seems.

I love my b-complex.  I thought since I'm so far out of surgery that I could do without it but I do feel a difference being on it.  I definitely don't think it's a bad idea.

500mcg of b-12 is kinda low, you may need more in the future.  Methylcobalamin is the best form (compared to cyanocobalamin) and I find the quick dissolve tabs by superior source to be easy to take.

The B-12 I will be purchasing is 2500 mcg sublingual.  I was thinking of taking it 2-3 times a week along with the B complex daily.  Does that sound reasonable?  I know I wont know for sure till I get my labs done.

When you get your labs folks will be able to advise you.  But as another reference I take the sublinqual B-12 5 days a week and the B-Complex once a week based on my own labs.

When I used to take a daily b-complex, my b 12 was sky high (all my b's were fairly high), so I only take it twice a week now, but do take a b12 daily.

I'll see if things have come down to an acceptable level at my next blood draw.

My doctors has me get B-12 shots once a month. I was not running low but she said that she was doing this as a preventative method. It's easier to maintain your levels than trying to build them up once they plummet.

I take a B complex 3x a week.  My B6 has a tendency to go sky high on a daily dose.

I also take 500 uL (half mL) of B12 2x a month. It's a split dose of the normal monthly 1 mL shot.  Stops the spikes I was having (that came with short term memory issues).

Many people do well on sublinguals for B12.  I've been doing B12 shots since 2004 when I had the VSG done.  I'm used to it and give myself the shot with no issues.

Hugs,
Ratkity

edited to add - the shot is 1mg/mL or 1000ug/mL  (uL = mcg)
