So my older sister is against me having surgery...  I have always been the largest. Then her then my itty bitty little sister.  So today we all went to the beach... I took the kids out in the water with my sister in a swimming suit and said to her... Man I hate being so self conscious.  She goes well next year you will be her size and pointed to my litte sister.  I was like I know I am so excited!!!  and she goes "well I am not, your making me the only fat one"!!!!  I knew that is why she was against it.  She is going to be the biggest.

On a side note.. had my 6 month appt and she said that they will submitting to the insurance company and if I get approved I should expect to have surgery by the end of July!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope things work out with you and your sister. Congratulations on getting through this crazy process. I'll be swinging lizards for a quick insurance approval and surgery date.

Well, I wish I could tell you that was the last time you would have problems with family members or friends but I'm sorry, its really not. You may even lose friends. Its not fun and its hard!!

Good luck.

I'm sorry. That really sucks. Do you go to therapy? I think it really helps with family issues. I just had an appointment today with mine and I feel better. Just a suggestion.

No my family and I are all very open and honest with each other and very close.  We spend about 4 nights a week together over at my parents house.  I can relate to how she is feeling.  Prior to her having her child almost 5yrs ago, I was the only fat one.  So if the shoe was on the other foot and she was getting the surgery, I can see felling how she does.  it is just irritating that they are not very supportive of this decision and part of my life.. They will come around or they won't.

People can be afraid of the unknown. Even those who love us might not want us to change for fear of what we change to.

Surgery is a very serious decision, as you well know. They could be fearing they will lose you. Of Course, they may not say it outloud but voice it through other comments.

They know right now who you are and they love you the way you are. What if you change into a snotty ***** or your personality changes into someone who isn't.... you? Reassure them you will change some but into a more confident strong mother, sister, daughter, friend.

I have a close friend that has battled her weight...she would probably be consider obese but to me shes just chubby:) I dread the day that i tell her what im doing because if all goes right she will be the fat girl in our group and her vanity wont be able to take it.

Im sure im gonna lose her as friend and im prepare for it...ive been the fat girl in every group ALL my life and i can understand how she will feel but honestly im doing this for me and i really hope my instincts about her are wrong:)

Im soo excited for you and i hope the insurance approval is fast!!!
