-60 Lubs and a Lesson

Today, at 3 months after wls, I am down 60 lubs. Yea, me! This is my discharge weight minus my current weight. I'm still confused about the whole diuretic thing and my weights. My refills just arrived today, so I'll start back on them and do the math later. Anywhoo, I celebrated by going to Starbucks after getting my hair done. I've never had Starbucks, and I ordered a Caffee Mocha Latte, I think. How do you decide what to order??? I drank half of it and promptly barfed part of it back up. Fun. Not. Lesson learned. My clothes are bigger on me and my fatass fit better in the chair at the beauty salon. My beautician said she could tell a big difference. Yea. Jeanie, gloating for the day

Oh, Jeanie, good for you! You go ahead and gloat! That's pretty fan-dam-tastic! I'm a few days behind you, but nearing the three month mark. Last week (at my PCP's) I was down 54, so I may (or may not) make 60 by the 16th. But you're giving me a number to shoot for! I got the good news that I don't have hypertension anymore and I don't have diabetes anymore--he said he was very happy and I was thrilled. What a miracle this is! Sorry about the Cafe Mocha Latte. I can't do milk/cream at all --it exits one way or the other within a few hours. I even tried a lactaid pill and it didn't make a difference. I hear that lactose intolerance gets better at 8-12 months post op. I'm hoping. I'm swimming in clothes, but paralyzed shopping. I need to buy some things, but have managed to buy just one pair of black pants in a smaller size. I think I'm wasting money to buy anything that won't fit in two months, but my family is complaining that I need to get at least some things that fit. You go, Jeanie! I'm struggling to keep up with you... Nancy

Thank you, Nancy, my surgery buddy! You are right there with me with it all. I'm too cheap to buy things for only a few months, too. I'm finding that my skirts are good for about 3-4 sizes, so that's good. The plan is to go through my clothes tomorrow to see what fits. Heaven only knows what I will find. Jeanie

Walter - I understand where your excitement comes from, having chosen the DS, as I feel lucky, excited and thankful each and everyday. Posting on the Main Message Board just to make other "drool" or feel remorse for their surgery type is not only unkind but unwise. I'm sure Jeanie will agree. We each have our own forums to post freely how we feel and to seek comfort and advice from other post-ops. In no way should belittle others for their decisions or try to make them feel like their choice was a bad one. We DSers are a friendly group who promote WLS as a last resort for all and respect each and everyone's personal decision as to which procedure they choose, having all of us, gone through the trials of obesity and the pain of being unhealthy. LeeAnn May God Bless every path you put your feet to

Try the AchievOne protein drinks. The mocha java tastes just like Frappucino! And congrats on the weight loss -- you might take a look at ColdwaterCreek . com -- they have a clearance sale on all the time, and they have sizes from tiny to huge, so you can buy something you really like on sale in a couple of sizes.

Jeanie, I'm so happy for you! That's a wonderful loss! I'm a Starbuck's addict, unfortunately (for the pocketbook --> not cheap!). If you ever want to give it another try, they'll make soy lattes as well as some sugar-free drinks. Not as nummy, of course, but still tasty. Alison

Thanks, Alison. I read somewhere that Starbucks has an ordering guide. Maybe I'll hunt one down. I haven't been able to find much info online. What is Venti?
