Hi all I will be entering the Walk from Obesity in NYC I have already made my hotel reservation. Anyone else planning to walk??? I would love a bunch of us to go together, and at least have hubby do a photo of us at the start. I am starting to get serious about the walking-because of the arthritis I do all my exercise in the pool. So I decided to start slow and work up to the walk. So I started last monday with 1 1/2 mile at the local high school track. I do one or two days in a row depending on my knees and then a day off. I am walking for the same length of time 40-45 minutes and have gone from 6 laps to 10 laps already. I make it like a meditation circle I start in lane 6 and with each lap switch to a new lane get to lane 1 and finish for 1 1/2 mile and start back outward with lane 2 and keep going. so I hope to inspire someone else to do the walk wherever one is near you.... we will all be walking the same day if not together in body at least together in spirit gratitude is my attitude Amanda S VG-DS October 2001 highest >350.342 start of wls journey/154@goal and after ps

Amanda, My support group (Mpls. area DS support group) is doing the Walk From Obesity together as a group. Many of us have our entire families walking with us too. Our walk is being held in St. Paul and it's 1.67 miles long. How long is your walk? I will be thinking of you while I walk! Tammy 285/143/140

I just got the email today on the 9/12=sorry I did not reply before this....I am not sure how long the walk is for Manhatten but I am up to over 3 miles in 50minutes so I am sure I can do it all. My DH fears it will go by so fast I will feel cheated of extra wow-moments. So I promise to stop and praise others along the way!! gratitiude is my attitude Amanda S VG-DS October 2001 highest >350/342 start of wls/156@goal and after ps

Good luck Amanda! I like to walk on my treadmill and watch musicals on the TV at the same time. Outdoor walking is okay as long as it is not too hot, too cold, too rainy, too bright, too windy, or too many cars, or too many other people, or....
