Got GERD?
Endoscopy went amazingly well, was scoped by 9 and home by 11! They found that I have Grade 1 reflux esophagitis. They took some biopsies and faxed everything to the surgeon's office. The doctor who did the scope told my friend she did not think it was serious enough to warrant cancellation of the DS and infact felt that it may clear up post-op. She also knew a lot about the DS and had lots of questions to ask me (pre-sedative, thanks!) I'll call surgeons office on Monday or Tuesday and God-willing it is a go. I'll let you know. Going to mother-in-law this weekend, that's enough to give me heartburn. Forgive my vent, she's one of the most bitter, nasty, complaining, whining and manipulative folks I've ever met. No doubt she'll argue with me the entire weekend about the surgery and have a bag of diet and exercise articles that she "found" just for me. She's been doing this for 15 years now, she does not take a hint or even a blatant "stop it!". Hubby does not stand up for me to his mother (which creates all sorts of problems after our visits). Okay, breathe deeply, visualize peace.......
That's cool that the doctor was familiar with the DS, and was asking you questions about it.
Too bad about your MIL, and the fact that she bullies your husband into passivity. But after 15 years, I guess ya just get used to it. It is what it is. At least you know better.
(visualizing whirled peas just for you)
got barrettes, the ultimate cure for gerd is a nissan fundplacation, which precludes haveing a rny, but the fundus is removed in the ds, so the ds precudes the wrap, i will have my ds under my wrap, sort of 1/3 stomach removed instead of half. still effective because the fundus, is wrapped around the esophagas to cause a spicter. Your surgeon may want to consider this in planning your surgery.
