Refill or wait?

Coming up to the end of several of my medications, barring disaster my surgery is on the 13th of September. Should I go ahead and just refill for the month or wait and see what happens post-op. I'll be out of 2 of them on the day before surgery (Wellbutrin and Lasix). Yeah, I know I should call my surgeon, but I'm anxious and lonely and needed to hear from someone...

Hi Denise- I would say if you have a really good prescription plan and it will not cost much to refill go ahead -- otherwise talk to the surgeon. I know you must be getting a little antsy with your surgery only two weeks away. I hope it all goes well for you. You are a woman of great faith-- so you have the resources you need to get you through this. But in the meantime I am generally on line all through the day and generally into the night so drop me a line anytime. Red

refill, never know the outcome, or if the doctor gets a cold and cancels. and welbutrin requires a weaning off.

If the wellbutrin is for depression or whatever he won't have you stop it. That doesn't go away with surgery...I was told to keep taking my regular meds and to see my regular doc for any changes to the plan. Not to mention, they require a gradual weaning off if you do stop taking them.... Tonya

DEFINITELY refil. Anti-depressents are one medication you NEVER want to quit cold turkey. Even if the doctor decides they aren't for you, they still have to wean you off of them. What I would do if I were you is ask the pharmacist if the medication can tolerate being pulverized, and mixed in with something like applesauce. Especially immediately post-op, your stomach will thank you for not tossing hard objects at it. --BT
