I was talking with my dad the other day and he mentioned he'd read something about corn silk instead of fuel. I said "what? tell me more!" Apparently, there is this attachment you busy for you vehicle, cost is about $165. You grind down the corn silk and add 2 different chemicals. And presto chango, you now have a corny car! (Ha! I kill me!) Anyone else heard of this? Then my DH, ever the Diesel enthuasist, says "I say we sell all our vehicles and invest in a diesel." My answer to this was, "are you nuts, diesel is the MOST expensive!" He said "Ah ha, but you can run a diesel off filtered vegetable oil! McDonalds throws away Hundreds of gallons a day!" Am I surrounded by lunatics? I asked my dad why if there was a better, more efficent, environmental friendly alternative, we didn't all use the corn silk. He said the economy would suffer horibly, people would be out of jobs, value of currency would chance, etc... Personally, I'm just on pins and needles waiting for those hydrogen powered cars to hit the market! Lee

Lee, There has been the technology for hydra power for years, but the oil people will not let it come out. Like your dad said the whole economy would changed and they would be out millions. It would be so much better for the enviornment, but money rules the world. Just my thoughts. Julie F

Yup, I heard about filtered vegetable oil on a show on public radio a few months back. I think one's car generally smells a bit like French fries, but other than that, it's a kind of interesting idea. Dreading filling up the tank tomorrow. http://www.biodiesel.org/resources/faqs/ Willie Nelson runs his tour bus on bio-diesel whenever and whereever it's available. It requires NO modification to a diesel engine, and can be alternated and/or mixed with regular diesel fuel. (So you can fill up at one station with diesel, and 200 miles down the road, fill up with biodiesel with no ill effects)

I'm considering getting a dozen Bernese Mountain dogs, m'self. (*grin*)Ever watched a doggie 'pulling contest'? Those puppies are STRONG!

I love those Bernese dogs, they are so gorgeous. They look so sweet. I am with you on the sled team. I figure it would take about 4 or so of them to do the job. Hugs Patty

Yeah, but you can't run the same team every day--hence the need for 12. (And dogs, like kids, SHOULD be 'cheaper by the dozen', LOL!) We used to have an Australian Shepard that looked just like a scaled-down version of a Bernese Mountain Dog. What a honey-pot he was! Still missing that guy, and he's been gone almost ten years.
