We decided to take the kids to Knoebel's, a family amusement park with awesome wooden roller coasters.
I was feeling pretty good at the beginning of the day....then we got there, and I had to poop. Great. This rarely happens to me. So, I find a family bathroom giving me privacy, and I deal with it.
Then, I can't seem to drink enough. We finally get some lunch, I had a hot dog, all is ok. Then my son asks me to go on the wooden roller coaster - I had cleared this with my doc at my last visit. Well, it was far from fine. I got so loopy for at least an hour after the roller coaster....I was clammy to the touch, and dizzy. I was drinking as much water as possible but it never seemed like enough. I couldn't wait to get home.
Any thoughts? Dehydrated maybe? It was nice out, but the sun was warm. Did I just jostle the hell out of my insides and that set me off??? I don't know but all I can say is this is the worst I've felt in a while. Throw in the massive headache and cramps from AF and I could have just laid down in the middle of the park.
Yuck. I hope to hell this is better when I get to Disney the end of next month or I'm going to be really, really disappointed. (did I mention I really love roller coasters???)

So sorry for your rough experience. I grew up less than 8 miles from Knoebels and worked there in the summer during high school! I'm wondering if you got dehydrated, especially being out in the sun all day. I hope you recover for your Disney trip. Did you at least get a chance to taste the hot caramel corn at the park? (drool)
It sounds like a combination of dehydration and a drop in blood pressure/blood sugar.
I know that when I donated plasma on a regular basis, I went one time when I had NOT eaten or drunk within the required amount of time. I thought I was close enough, but I was wrong. Halfway through the donation, the world started to fade/spin, and I felt like death himself had just reached through my gut & touched me. A weird kind of nausea overtook me, and I was suddenly freezing.
They stopped the donation, and gave me what looked like Barium type Kool Aid (you know the stuff you drink when you have a CT scan??). It took about 10-15 minutes, but then I was fine.
They said it was due to losing too much fluid, but I still wonder if there was more to it. Two styrofoam coffee cups of kool aid doesn't seem like enough to replace a half pint of plasma in 15 minutes.

Oh Bummer,
I love roller coasters too. I was thinking of taking Kayla to Knoebels next weekend. She starts pre-school tomorrow and I am off of work today getting things in order, buying food for lunches, etc. I said I wanted to take her before surgery, but things got so crazy I ran out of time. So, maybe it will just be a day of fun for her!!! And lots of water and exercise for me. I am trying to convince my sister to take her daughter along for the day. We will see. If she doesn't know what she is missing, she can't miss it, right? There is always the zoo!!!!
I would think a little dehydration and maybe the new insides adjusting to the ride, and maybe blood pressure. Our bodies get weird after this surgery!

clammy to touch, suggest possible electrolite loss through persperation, the low blood sugar too, but an excess of water, advoiding salts as we tend to do can set up a electro lite deficientcy, gatorade or a banana would help, as one who normally filters 3 to four gallons of water a day, i carry mult vitimins with minerals to check that.
Sharon,
That stinks! Sorry you had such a miserable day. It definately sounds to me like you were a tad dehydrated. Easy to do in all the commotion of a theme park I'm sure. As far as the rolling tummy, I think it's just because your so new post-op. At 3 months we started taking our family drives in the country again. All those loopy roads and dropping hills... ick, getting sea sick just thinking about it. They did me in. It wasn't until the last 2 months that I was able to tolerate the feeling of a belly flop again. On the plus side, it didn't feel any different than pre-op. That was a big deal for me because, I like roller coasters too and thats all part of the thrill!!
Better luck at Disney, you lucky girl!
Lee
