I just upped my protein from 90-100 to 140-150 a day.  I think I'm getting enough fat,  eating butter, half and half, full fat every thing.

Thanks Jenna for such a quick response.  D................

I'm18 months out.  My hair fell out, has stopped falling but nothing coming back in yet.  The hair I do have is like straw, very brittle.  I wear hair extensions to try to hide my lack of hair.

Any one else have this problem and any suggestions??  D...................

Dear Stephanie,  you are not just getting a DS, you are getting a revision.  Please reconsider who does this revision.  They a risky at best and only a few surgeons will take on a revision.  They know how complicated they are.  This is a bad idea to be her first case.  Unless she is paying you some large sum of money (like 6 figures) to be her guinea pig RUN do not walk away from this.

I had this same discomfort at the beginning also.  It finally went away.  Maybe my body just toughened up,  I don't know but it did go away.  Seems like it lasted a few months and then disappeared.  Good luck and hang in there,  D.........

Topic: RE: Bowel Obstruction Update - by Lisey herself!

Lisey,  Thank God you are OK.  It sucks that our surgeon is so far away and we really  have to fend for ourselves. You did find a ds doc in your neck of the woods and that was some kind of miracle in itself.  Angels are looking over you.

Rest up Lisey - do what you need to do to get strong again.

Keep us posted with your healing process,    D.............

Hugs to you Lisey.  What a scary thing to have to go through.  I'm glad you went to the ER and they took fast action.  Did they contact Dr. Ungson?  Thinking of you all always,   D..................

Topic: RE: If you are not a DSer why are you here?
Well Elizabeth I'm not a DSer but I got pretty close.  Unfortunately my surgeon decided on the operating table to give me a scopinaro procedure instead.  SUCKS doesn't it.  His reasoning was that I had too much scar tissue to do a full ds.  I'm stuck with it so now I move on and see where this takes me.  But this board is the closest to what I have.

No don't have to walk,  there are buses and trolleys that come by the parking lots quite frequently.  You just have to get your head around it and know that is just part of the deal.  I don't like it and it does really suck.  Thanks for feeling my pain.

Oh and I go only 1 day a week so don't feel too bad for me!!

I have a parking permit, almost 3 miles from campus.  To get one closer you have to have seniority which I do not have.

Thats a legitimate fear Becky.  I unfortunately lost my spleen during my surgery with Ungson and now I FEAR germs like crazy.  My hematologist is also afraid for me so I take this very seriously.

I have to park a couple miles from campus (no parking space close by) and then take a trolley so carrying extra water, food, books just isn't happening for me.   I buy water and food on campus.

Topic: RE: Revisioners Who Have Had To Travel For Surgery
I travelled to Mexico for my revision.  I stayed 3 weeks by myself.  I didn't need to stay so long but wanted to stay longer just in case I had a complication ( I did not).   I was pretty lonely but physically did not need any help.  If I was to do it over again I would take someone with me for company and stay state side.
Good luck,  seems to me there are a few DSers around the bay area that would be more than happy to come see you.  Put out an alert for company and they'll come runnin..............................

I wear extensions in my hair because my hair thinned so much.  I had average thickness but very fine hair before my surgery almost 18 mos. ago.  It is still very thin so extensions do the tric****il it decides to grow back.  I hope, I hope.

Hey Nancy,

I think your avatar looks wonderful.  You look healthy and happy.  I'm 5'11" 61 yrs old and weigh 157 to 160.  OMG Nancy, I am thin but saggy, baggy, draggy skin everywhere.  I did have a minor face lift because everyone thought with my saggy face I was mad all the time.  I look good in clothes but holy hell Nancy once those clothes come off its not a pretty sight.  I wear 3/4 length sleeves and NO shorts.  I wear a padded bra simply because there just isn't anything there.  I'd have a breast lift but nothin to lift.  I wear a size 6 or 8 bottoms and size L or M tops.  I would love this weight except for my saggy skin.

I think you look great just as you are.  Have you kind of settled into a weight?  I think you look really, really good now. D................

Topic: RE: Hair Loss question for post ops
I'm a nine.  I lost alot of hair but had thin to average hair to begin with so any loss was really noticable to me and others.  I now have extensions in my hair to look like I'm not a cancer patient.

Topic: RE: bruising(blood just underthe skin)
I have taken bioflavenoids to counter act this condition for over a year.   I haven't noticed any change.  My pharm. said you can maybe slow it down but not make the condition any better.  I hate it,  I bleed under my skin if you look crossed eyed at me.  I had this condition before my surgery but it seems to be getting worse.  I think I read some where that hemroidal (sp.) cream might help toughen up your skin.  Haven't tried it yet.
