She's an 11 yr old tri.  We adopted her a number of years ago.  She is the smartest dog I've ever known.  She's been going through some health problems recently and we're worried about how long she's going to be with us.  I can't imagine life without her!!  Would appreciate good thoughts and prayers and/or swinging chickens!

Sorry but I disagree with your statemen Janet--my surgeon was 69 when he did my surgery and he's one of the top DS surgeons in the world! He did an amazing job and I'd use him again without a second thought.

I've had both types of surgeries.  The open abdominal surgery was 100X worse than the lap DS in terms of pain, healing and length of recovery.  Based upon my personal experience, I would choose a laproscopic procedure over an open one any day!

I had oral surgery a few months after my DS.  It never was an issue.

Topic: RE: Abdominal Swelling
I'm more than a year out and occasionally have the kind of bloating and discomfort you describe if I overeat or have something with gluten in it.  In addition to what the others have said, I would remind you to eat slowly and listen for your body's signals about being full then stop eating when you get them. Maybe you need to closely evaluate what you are eating and your portion size.  A food diary may help--it did for me.

I wouldn't worry about comparing you weight loss to anyone else--it will come off in time as long as you are doing the right things, which it sounds like you are.

Good luck!

Yes, my DH stayed with me the entire time I was in the hospital in Brazil.  He was a great help and provided tremendous moral support.

Tiff--I agree with the others that you should seek professional help.

Hope you feel better soon!
Happy Birthday,

Don't believe everything you read (on the doctor's website).

If you want a DS save yourself a lot of heartache and go to an experienced vetted surgeon!!

Topic: RE: What vites and how many do you take?
I'll chime in here with my opinion.  I've been buying from Vitalady since day one and have never been sorry.  I order my vitamins and protein supplements in large enough quantities that I do not pay shipping.  I do bargain shop occasionally in between my vitamin orders if necessary.  Again, I take into consideration the cost of the protein supplements (I use 2-3X/day faithfully) and shipping and order enough of my favorite so there is no shipping cost.
I estimate I spend around $100/month.

It is my experience that what looks like a bargain in the marketplace is often not.  The couple times I was running low on something and purchased vitamins locally I have been disappointed for one reason or another.  For me Vitalady is my go-to source.

I agree with the others--if you cannot afford $100.00/month choose another weightloss option.

Topic: RE: Hi Guys, back from the UK!!
Sounds like a great idea!  The only concern is that some of us have quite a distance to travel.  Why don't we discuss it in more detail on the 1st or via PM.

Looking forward to our get-together!

Topic: RE: Hi Guys, back from the UK!!

Sorry for the delay getting back to you.  Wanted to verify the address.

The meeting is at the Golden Corral 5535 S. Kirkman in Orlando.  We were using another place for a while but the food was awful so we're back to the Golden Corral.  We had a great turn out last time--hope you and any other interested folks will join us!  FYI--a number of us bring our non-DS partners with us--the more the merrier!

We meet the first Saturday of the even numbered months.  The next one is October 1st.

Hope to meet you !

That's great news!  Do you ever attend the Orlando DS support group?  We mostly just sit around to talk and eat.  Would love to meet you!  The next meeting is October 1st.  Can let you know where if you are interested.

Topic: RE: OT - any good job searching tips, books, sites etc??
State of Florida jobs are on MyFlorida.com  The site can be a little tedious to get through but once you get down to the job listings you can search by desired County.  I even think there are city jobs listed there as well.  Good luck!

I second what Kirmy and Julie said--you need lots more protein.  All that other stuff is just filler and should be eaten last.  Lisa
