Topic: RE: Penpal in Iowa?
im most nervous about the surgery if everything is going to go alright and there isnt any complications druing the surgery. and dealing with the pain.. i dont hace a verry high threshold for pain so i hope that they will dope me up with good pain killers lol.. but i trust my surgeon... the diet that i am on it mainly fruits vegtables and meat, no noodles breads or any startches of any sort, i have started to drink  100% whey protein... dont try the chocolate one lol its not all that good of tasting lol.. the first 2 weeks before surgery your suppost to eat 5 small meals a day, which they discuss at education day, if u havent gone to it, just to warn you its a verry long class but its worth it so that you can learn all the stuff that you nedd to do before and after surgery.. they also wanted me to start exercising 5 times a week for 30-40 minutes to build up the strength of my heart and lungs so that there wont be problems in that area.. but what i have been doing is walking and biking.. well that is all that i can think of saying.. if you want to know anything else from me just let me know..

Mine is scheduled for June 14th. What are you nervous about? Me, I'm nervous about making it through surgery, and dealing with afterwards. Then just making sure I do things right afterwards. I have two kids and I want to be able to play with them and see them grow up. That was my reason to have the surgery.
How is your before diet going? Do you get 2 weeks of 1200 calories then 2 days of liquid? That's what I start on Thurs. just in time for 2 birthdays and our first camping weekend! :-( I can do it though!
Let me know how things go for you!

I am looking for a pen pal too, Good luck ladies, during this time you need to be positive about having surgery. I am 7 months out and feel so much better. Might one suggest make a "bucket list" of things you want to do after weight loss surgery. I know I am walking a 1/2 marathon.

YES, you can do it.....
I have a date finally for my surgery, I am excited and scared.

Good morning, I am Jennifer from Alaska, I am 36 years old 7 months out from VSG. I am looking for new freinds too talk to.. I would love to connect with others since my Dr. has done a little in Alaska where I live.

Yes, I am doing a 1/2 marathon in June 2012. I never thought possible. Ohh yeah baby, here I come to get this marathon done.

I am going to get my 1/2 marathon done in 5 hours. I did a 10 K mock and got done in 2 hours.

Debra. I went back to see my surgen yesterday for a follow up visit and they said I could be doing walking but not over do it.  THey want to ease us back into activity like that.  They said at 6 weeks out from surgery date that you could return to the gym but still take it easy, no lifting heavy weight  or anything over stressful to your body.  Hope this helps you out and I hope you are getting these messages, like I said, Im new to message boards. lol  Have a wonderful day of weight loss!

Hey, I'm new to the forum. I am also 29 and hoping to have WLS.  It looks like I'll be having my RNY in Nov.  I was prequalified just have to go through all the testing and complete my nutrition classes. I'm from PA. I'd love to have someone to talk to that's going through the process at the same time.

I did open surgery.  My surgeon doesn't do laproscopic on RNY but will on lapband. Now relax. Everything will fall into place.
Taking it one day at a time.

lol yes I've started to do that. I've cleaned out and rearrange the house. To help deal with my nervousness, I've even painted over three doors. I live with someone so I could not get rid of everything. The whole top shelf in my fridge is full of isopure grape flavor protein drinks. I have isopure powder. I have the unjury protein. I've been on two protein a day since early may. I just hope my palate will be able to stand the taste. I stocked up on sf jello, soup etc...
I pray for no complications. Did you have to open surgery?
