Topic: How do you get your protein? (xpost)

When I first had my surgery through DukeWLS, I had no choice but to consume protein drinks for 3.5 weeks. UGH!!! I honestly think if I ever see another BOOST or ENSURE I just might launch it at someone. I honestly, have tried a number of 'mixes', but never found one that I much liked.

I prefer to 'eat' my protein and find that if I follow the rule of eating my protein first, I can routinely get in at least 60 milligrams of protein a day.  Shrimp and seafood as a whole have always been an easy go to for me. Poultry was a little more hit and miss at first, but now that I'm nearly two years out, I can eat any meat and/or hard boiled eggs without any problem at all. The other easy go to item was and has been beans. Beans of all sorts. A a really safe bet when I'm out and about is Wendy's chili. If I'm at dinner or lunch and I'm out, I'll often select a spinach salad with grilled shrimp or chicken.

Milk is another easy go to, as is yogurt and cheese... I just have to keep an eye on the fat content and if I'm not careful lactose intolerance can raise it's head.

Sooooo... What do you like to eat to get in your protein?

Topic: XPost: Poor service from a suppliment site
I am hooked on Whey Gourmet's Artic Cappuccino Frappe.

So when the site I normally order was sold out, I went hunting.

I found MySupplimentStore.com

They had a reasonable price so I placed an order.  Yea, that was the 11th.  On the 16th I realized that I hadn't received a shipping confirmation.  So I looked it up and noticed I had given them the wrong email address for me.  I contacted the company and let them know my correct address.

That's when they told me that they were out of one of the flavors I had ordered and told me it wouldn't be in stock for 7-10 days and THEN it would ship.  They said they could make a substitution.  I wrote back and told them that I couldn't wait that long because I have a medical need for it and told them to substitute another flavor.  They wrote back and said it would be midweek this week when I got it.

So I didn't get it.  I emailed yesterday and asked about it.  They actually wrote me back and said "Good news" UPS says your order will be there on Tuesday!!!!!!!

Tuesday?????!!!!!!!  In what world is it ok to choose UPS ground 2-3 day shipping and it take over 17 days to get an order????

So I wrote them back and let them know it's not ok and they've lost a customer and that I would be letting others know NOT to order from them as well.

Feel free to order from these people if it doesn't matter if or when you get your product.

No, I'm not sure.  I'm not sure of anything.

Thank you.

I would post this on the RNY board. I think that's where everyone goes (even the Fobi people). Good luck. Wish I had enough knowledge to help. She definately needs to seek medical attention. Are you sure it hasn't turned into an eating disorder like anorexia?

Hi there -- My beloved cousin had her Fobi done 12 years ago, and is now skeletally thin and very ill.  If you know much about either Fobis or Revision, would you please see:

Topic: What?s your goal weight? (xpost)

I know that when I started this journey, the program I’m with asked me to articulate where I wanted to be in terms of size and weight. What would be the highest acceptable, what would be comfortable, what would be my ‘dream’ weight and size? This helped me try to look at my expectations and try to level them some. I have to admit my actual weight is not what I had anticipated. It’s actually lower. My husband is in the midst of his own journey and he’s not shooting for the ‘normal’ BMI range, because he’s been that small before and to be honest, it’s just too small for him… he really does have big bones and a muscled physique.

I think that when looking at what your goal weight should be, you need to work with your Dr and take a number of things into account: your starting weight/bmi, your bone structure, your build, your age, etc…

I also think that it’s important to realize the number on the scale, while important as a point of reference, is not the end all when determining if you are at a weight that is good for you. Do you feel wonderful? Are you able to do the things that you want and need to do to enjoy a fulfilled life? Are your vital signs where you need them to be to live long and healthfully? If these things are in line and the number on your scale is not where you had imagined, you might have reached your goal weight without knowing it.

So how do you think you will know when you have arrived at goal weight?
