endoscopy question
I have always had trouble with food moving through and getting stuck. It often times will take me 45 min to an hour to eat a small meal. I've been putting off getting it fixed or looked at because I had pulmonary embolisms after surgery and did NOT want to have anything more done with potential complications.
Well, I finally bit the bullet, I had an upper endo with dilatation today. When he got in there, I didn't need dilated but I had a couple of sutures that were there (?eroded) and were causing irritation. From the way he was talking, this is not all that uncommon. I guess they use permanent sutures instead of the dissolving kind. I'm hoping that taking those two sutures out and the carafate medication for a couple of weeks will help my issues.
Has anyone heard of this before?
Pamela,
What I have had is a couple of loose staples to be removed. Perhaps that's the same thing. The carafate will definately help with any irritation. It's what I was put on for each of my ulcers...and what's an ulcer but irritation. Did he say how many mm your opening was? 10-15 is the 'norm'.
Best of luck,
Sherri
