OK- my Hoosier Losers family, I am in need! As most of you know that have been reading my threads I am once again struggling with my son. I am in need of a lock box or something similar that can be locked!Unfortunately right now financially things are very tight with me facing being off work here soon for surgery and I have no benefits or vacation time etc at my job. If anyone does, I would greatly appreciate it and would be happy to make arrangements for pick up! Thanks for reading, I know that this is a strange request- but I have to do what I have to do to protect my son! He is no longer cutting, but I have been on his myspace and he has been experimenting with pills! My husband takes very strong meds 120 mg of morphine daily as well as we have vicadin and flexeril etc. This is very important, not something that I truly want to do, but need/HAVE to do! He is only 13 and I am scared to death as well as heartbroken and embarrassed! I also realize that this is for my son and that I should figure out a way to purchase my own, however I thought this would be worth a try- I won't waste much time waiting and will be taking other precautions! Please no flaming!!! This has been a very tough process for both my husband and myself! Please keep us in your thoughts! Hugz Dawn

I personally dont have one, but I know my brother got one not too long ago, I think he said at walmart for pretty cheap, so you might want to look there. Theres no need to be embaressed. Kids do these things. At least you are aware of what is going on, and are taking steps to help him. I can tell you that when I was a teenager, I did some pretty stupid stuff too. I carved my boyfriends name in my leg (of which I still have a scar from- STUPID), I experiemtned with drugs. It has no reflection on you as a parent. Some mistakes people just have to make for themselves. I'd like to think I turned out (mostly) okay. Therapy will help. It might just take some time. But bravo to you for taking steps to protect your son. I never used pills, but I know my brother got into my mom's pills ( I didn't know this until a couple of years ago, actually). You are giving him help and love, and hat goes a long way. I pray that with sometime all will right itself. BIG HUGZ!

I don't have one either, but I think you're doing a wonderful job, doing everything you can for your son. I just wanted you to hear that. Linda Vicory

You are in my prayers.. Been there done that.. got the white hairs!! Just to give you some fresh hope as bad as it was for me raising Chad.. he turned into a fine young adult and is a great father.. Being a persistant "horrible mom" works! We still have Rons Morphene under lock and key .. we would HATE for the grandkids to accidently find them.. Hugz, Linda

Unfortunately, I don't have a lockbox either, but wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you. Stand strong, you are a good mother! Cindy

HI Dawn, I just wanted you to know I have gone though a similar experience with my daughter. She is 16 and I found out she is a cutter when she was 12 or 13. I wanted to tell you there is light at the end of the dark tunnel. She is doing great now but I still hold my breath. If you need to talk you can always call me e-mail and I'll give you my phone #. As for the lock box I don't have one but, could you put a metal latch on the cabinet with a padlock. My boyfriend did this to the cabinets at work and it wasn't that expensive and at a latter date you could always remove it and fill in the holes with wood putty. God Bless you and your family Cheryl
