Hello, just curious what ideas you all might have. I had a really strange thing happen Saturday night. I was adjusted by 0.3ccs 2 weeks ago so I have 1.3ccs in a 4cc band. I really hadn't felt any different and was, for the most part, eating normally. I went to a party Saturday night and had perfectly acceptable food like deli meat rolled up with cheese, cheese cubes, a few chips, some mixed nuts, and I had a beer. While I was eating the nuts I could feel them start to get stuck so I stopped and walked away until it cleared and I was fine. The eating was around 8:30-9:00. I got home about 11:00 and went to bed. At 1:00am I woke up with the worst pain in my chest and stomach. I could hardly breathe and it was in my back too. I couldn't sit or lay down comfortably. Going to the bathroom relieved it a bit that I was able to fall back asleep. But, at 3:00 I woke up again, same awful pain. So bad that I was going to wait until 7:00 until my ex-husband was getting up and I was going to call him to come stay with the kids and I was going to go to the hospital. About 5:00, about 3 mins after I took a dose of Loratab, it felt like a wave passed over me, the pain immediately went away and I was fine. I know this is typical symptoms of things getting stuck, but I hadn't eaten for at least 4 hrs. What do you think happened? Thank you, Tania

Sounds like the combination of nuts and beer came back to haunt you. Beer, or any carbonated beverage continues to give off gas (especially when combined with legumes) for several hours. Annette

Ditto what Ann said.. especially since you just had an adjustment 2 wks ago that carbonation could really push back up into your band. Dr Clark told me to wait at least 6-9 months if not a year from any adjustment (unfill or fill) for a carbonated drink of any sort.

HI Linda, I actually posted this on another list too and several people have posted that they think it's my gallbladder. And I don't think I did myself any favors by drinking the beer and eating nuts. I would have to say that out of everything I have given up for the goal of 'loosing weight', beer is the one I miss the most. I"ve given up Diet Coke (drank 6 or more a day) without even a look back, but darn I miss my Corona. I'm sure I'm going to get a good scolding from Dr. Clark. I also never filled the Actigall Rx he wrote after surgery. I thought it was silly since I'd never had any gallbladder problems before and I HATE to take meds that aren't needed. Oops. Ok guys, what should I soften him up with so he doesn't get too mad. Somehow I don't think flowers will do the trick here. I've written Amy in the office, I'm sure I'm going to hear about this one. If I'm still alive after Dr. Clark gets ahold of me, you'll hear from me later this week. I hope he's not too mad. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has varied some off diet's path. I'm pretty sure that's why I haven't heard from Amy yet though, she probably flagged that e-mail for him to call. If that 865 number shows up on my phone, I'll be nervous. Tania

Ohhh I didn't even think about gallbladder being an issue... eek! Probably because I had mine taking out a year prior to be banded. Dr Clark won't scold you to bad... probably just laugh at you and tell you he told you so (about following post op directions, hahah). Tell him that "Hey, you live... you learned... and yep I've learned."... Good Luck Jodi

So did you ever get a call back from Dr Clark? What was his verdict... That does sound very similar to the beginning of gall bladder problems.. My issues started out like that... then the big wham bam thank ya mam comes and you want that sucker out as fast as possible. HOpe it wasjust the food though.. Jessyca
