Birth Control
Jennifer,
Thanks so much for your help and congrats on your pregnancy! Babies are such a blessing! I'm in the process of trying to find an OB/GYN here in IN and I wanna be able to go there and ask for the b.c. that I want, so I'm trying to do all the research I can. Does the patch give you all the same benefits that the pill gives, in regards to your period? ie lighter and shorter duration...cramp control...pms control? I knew I should have gone to med school...darn it! I really appreciate your help!!
Jennifer,
Again thanks so much for your help. To tell you the truth I don't have much by way of period "problems" I just got spoiled by the pill. 2-3 day periods are GREAT! I will keep your doc in mind, but sadly, it is quite a drive from here, in Bedford, to Indy. But if I don't find someone that is a good match for me, I will be making the drive! You're a peach to help me.

Andrea many people are encouraged to use another form of protection along with the pill since the pill isn't absorbed as well or correctly after surgery. Many people's fertility increases after surgery as well...Right Darrah?
I myself was on the pill for 5 years and then in June, prior to surgery I had the Mirena IUD put in. I now don't have to worry about birth control for 5 years! The insertion was painful but the end result is so worth it!
Hope this helps!
Sam

I had the Mirena put in 9 weeks ago and still have bleeding. So- you haven't had any trouble with it? I would like it because of the length of use but would love it if this would stop. When I talked to the nurse at the Dr. office she said it could take 3-4 months for my system to get straightened out.
I was one of the fertile ones after surgery and got pregnant around my one year anniversary. Baby Annabella is now 6 months old and I love her so much but not enough to go without some type of control to stop another little one from sprouting.

Andrea....don't know if you would be willing to go to New Albany...but there is a wonderful OB/GYN ther named Stephen Baldwin. He is the best! Patient, kind, gives you all the attention as though you were his only patient. he is up to date on all the newer medical changes and I would reccommend him very highly. He deals with alot of women who are high risk pregnancies too if that helps!
I have surgery next month and already changed my bc to the nuvaring. its a plastic ring inserted **down there*** and leave in for three weeks, then take out for one week. after the one week (ahamm, period), insert new nuvaring. the ring has the hormones in it and you absorb it thru **down there**. I like it. i don't forget to take my pill! you just have to remember to change it. I don't feel it or anything. & it doesnt interfere with my sex life.
my dr had a sample, so maybe you could try it. hope it helps
