I have gained 7 pounds! Will they cancel my surgery?

Crap!  I got on the scale yesterday and I have gained SEVEN pounds!  I know what happened--now that I have been approved for surgery and have a date, I have stopped exercising--the pain and effort involved in exercising is SO much that I just gave up!  Also, I am on a new diabetes medicine that is known to make losing weight harder!  Do you think that will cancel my surgery?  I have my nutrition class on Tuesday and my surgery is December 18th.  HELP!

It really depends on your dr... i gained 30 lbs from the time I was approved to the day I had surgery... they didn't cancel mine. Just know that every lb you gain you still have to lose... and it does make the recovery harder... If you're that worried call Dr Cacucci and ask....

It shouldnt cancel your surgery.  From when I initially went in and weighed and the day of my surgery I had gained about 10 lbs. They didnt say a word about it. Jenny

Thank GOD this has happened to other people!  I am so afraid that they would think that my weight gain would mean I wouldn't be able to follow the post-op diet, but that is not true!  Actually I have been eating pretty good--much better than before I started this whole surgery process so I know I will be able to follow the diet and I also know that in the beginning I won't be able to exercise much but as I lose some of the weight I am excited to start exercising more.   Thank you both for sharing that I am not the only one to gain weight before my surgery!  I can breathe a bit easier now and worry about all the other stuff that I had already been worrying about!

they shouldnt . hell i gained almost 25 in 3 weeks from time of consult to pre ops and surg date.  good luck  vicki

I gained 42 in the 8 months I waited, you should definitely be fine!
