6 week post op visit and doing FABULOUS!

I had my 6 week post op visit yesterday with Dr. Diaz and he says I'm doing way above what is expected at 6 wks.  Whoohoo!  I've lost nearly 50 lbs (actually 47 lbs) and I'm feeling great.  He told me to start doing some kind of resistance exercises along with my walking.  I'm going to go buy some elastic bands and start doing some stretching with them.  We don't have a gym here so I'll have to come up with my own workout routine.  I'm open to suggestions! The best part is that I don't have to drink the nasty protein stuff anymore.  He and the NUT both told me to get some protein bars and eat one a day (split into thirds).  I can't seem to eat much at my meals so this will make up for the 3 ozs I'm skipping each day. Dr. Diaz also said the nausea and vomiting are pretty normal at this stage and for me not to be too discouraged by it.  It only happens when I eat meat and he said it should get better over time. I got the "lawn mower fuel vs. jet engine fuel" talk from the NUT so I'm concentrating on better proteins for my body.  She doesn't want me eating the protein plus cereal as a meal anymore.  She wants me to eat some kind of meat, cheese or eggs.  This morning Troy fixed me a scrambled egg with some havardi cheese on it.  I could only eat a third of it but I guess it's jet engine fuel! My visit really pumped me up.  I thought I was doing bad with my proteins and food.  It turns out I've been doing pretty darn good!

What a great dr visit! Jacqui

Congratulations on the great job you are doing. I am 2 months out and I have lost 48.8 pounds. I feel like a different person already.  I go to Vitamin World to get my protein drink and the guy there told me about these protein bars there that are really good. They have 32 grams of protein in each one and they taste good. Not like I thought that they would. I can't remember the name but I will get it for you. He did tell me that the only one that was that good is the chocolate peanut butter flavor one. I am going to get some now so I don't have to take that drink. The last few times that I had it it was tasting pretty nasty to me. I am glad that didn't happen until toward the end of having to have it.

Great job Jacqui!  Keep up the great work.  At least you are exercising, I cant get my butt in gear to do that.  I have no excuses just pure laziness. But, I am going to try and start, that would probably make me lose more.  I was so glad when I didnt have to do those protein drinks anymore.  I drink 24 oz of milk a day, which dont bother me because I love milk.  Also, what exactly do you mean by the NUT dont want you eating protein plus cereal?  Because sometimes I eat maybe 2 oz of egg and 1 oz of dry rice chex cereal.  Just curious! Well keep up the good work.  You are doing awesome. Jenny
