Mary Brown 12/10/06

We lost a Earth Angel, Dec 10th, 2006. I met Mary at Dr K's all day semina. We became instant friends that was on 10/02/06. So you I didnt really know her long but it felt like I knew her for years.Mary needed a new heart and had to lose 150lbs to get on the transplant list. She 2 sons, Byran and Isaac they loved their mom. She also left her companion Monte.  When I finnally got her started on OH,she loved sharing with her new family.She was just awesome person, I miss her dearly. i Know she keeping an eye on her OH friends and family. Gail, Thank you for the wonderful post. Mary was such a sweetheart and I feel really blessed to have been able to get to know her.  Mary was the kind of person who just opened her heart right up. There are days...especially now with me not working and homebound so much....that I look at the phone and wish I could pick it up and give my friend a call or that she would call me. Mary had a way of making me forget all my problems. And no, not by talking about hers, but by being so cheerful and finding the positive in every single thing! That was the Mary I knew. Dear Sherri, How special you are too. Putting an album together dedicated to Mary. I to in the middle of the night think it Mary when the phone ring. Her cherrfulness got me through some ruff times. My tears right is seeing so happy the St'V party. When she got home, she was so happy to have met so many of her OH family. I was soooo blessed to have had her in my life and all OH family too. Gail and Sherri, My prayers are with you and Mary's family. From your testaments to her, Mary seemed to know how to give of her heart...something we should all take heed of. A place in heaven she will surely have. Prayers and hugs, Angie

It breaks my heart to here anyone losing a battle, but especially when they have such little ones. I guess I just see my little girl without a Mom and it makes it all too real.  Does anyone know if this was from her surgery or was it ultimately from her heart condition mentioned above?

Julie, It was Mary's heart that gave out. She had her WLS because she had to lose 150 lbs in order to be considered for a heart  transplant. Her weight loss was doing terrific. Her poor heart just couldn't hold out any longer. Without the WLS, she probably would have had several weeks less with her children so thank God that she had that additional time. Without OH, we wouldn't have had the pleasure of getting to know Mary either so yes, I am also very thankful for this site and all those who are on here.  As we found out here recently with my health issues, life is short and there is no guarantee that tomorrow will come...so we gotta do what we can to love & support each other while we can.
