Just 2 days....

Hi everyone.  Just 2 days till surgery.  My sugar is doing better, but not sure about this weather.....lol. We have a hotel reservation for tomorrow night, but wondering if we should go down today.  I wonder if Dr. Huse will be able to get to the hospital? I am not very prepared.  I haven't gotten my Christmas shopping done because I've been so sick with my Diabetes meds.  I'm feeling somewhat better, but still have trouble being on my feet for very long without getting shaky or nauseated.   Hopefully, I will be on the loser's bench soon.....barring any unforseen problems.....like the weather! Candy, Good luck Monday. I'm sure everything will work out fine. Indy does a pretty good job getting the main roads cleared so unless Dr. Huse lives in the country or a neighborhood like ours, he shouldn't have any problems getting to the hospital. Just be very careful on the drive here! To think, once you are post-op, you'll need to walk-walk-walk. What better way that while pushing a shopping cart? LOL! Did you know you burn more calories if you walk with a cart than without one? I had checked that one time in FitDay or another one of those programs. Naturally, I thought 'Good! A good excuse to shop!'. Hahaha! Hey, works for me. Just be sure to brng Mr. Santa with you if you have anything with any weight to it to put in the cart. My Mr. Santa is more like Mr. Grinch when he has to go shopping with me but..it's gotta be done... Your dh (or whoever) is welcome to call me with updates on you & I'll pass them on here to the board if you'd like. My number is on the Hoosier Directory. Sherri

Hi Sherri, I'm not sure where Dr. Huse lives, but I know that they breed, raise and show horses all over.....so that made me wonder if he doesn't live in the country.  Maybe he stays in town someplace when he knows he has surgery and the weather's bad....who knows.  I can't find anyone who knows if he'll be able to make it in or not.  I'm not sure whether to come down there tonight or wait until tomorrow.  We have a hotel reservation tomorrow.....if we come tonight, we'll have to stay at another hotel, because the Hampton doesn't have any rooms available today.   My hubby will go shopping if he has to.  I just wasn't sure how I'd feel when I get home since I'm having an open revision.  It seemed like it took me a couple of weeks to feel like being on my feet for a long length of time with my first surgery. I'll tell hubby about calling you with the updates......I don't know if he will or not, but I'll give him your number.  Thanks for offering! Candy

Candy, I didn't realize yours was a revision...or open. My RNY & revision were both lap and walking was ok for short amount of times but with my revision (6 months after my RNY), it took me a little longer to get back into the swing of things. It was just harder for me to bouce back than it was for my original RNY. The closest I've ever had to 'open' is this with my intestines and all. I know that with it, it has been taking me a long time to get into shopping or anything else. I just absolutely have no energy at all it seems.  Let's hope that with yours, you'll wake up with your Santa hat on and ready to get that walking in! I find it easier to walk with being able to lean on a cart..so might as well fill it up as I go..lol. I'll be thinking about you  Monday & hope everything goes great. I wouldn't worry about Dr. Huse making it. I think we are suppose to get more snow tonight so if it isn't too far to drive, you may want to try to get here before it starts up again.  Sherri

Sherri, We are getting ready to leave here shortly.  We ended up getting a room at the Hampton since we're going to be there tomorrow night too and we already had the room.  I called and they have available rooms now.  So, talk to you later. Candy

Thanks Ulisha!  Sorry it took so long for me to send this to you.  As you may know if you read my message a few days ago, the surgery went great!  But I had the kidneys shutting down afterwards and my blood pressure was real low, so I ended up in ICU for 3 days.  They were surprised that I recovered so quickly though.  At first I wasn't glad I had it, but I am now.  I don't know if I've lost any weight because I had gained 30 lbs. because of all of the fluids they pumped into me.  My scales have quit working, but I still am holding some of the fluids, so I probably still won't show a weight loss. Candy, just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you today as you have your revision. God Bless and keep you safe, as he always will.

Thank you LaChelle!  The surgery itself went great, but of course I had the complications after the surgery.  My kidneys were basically shutting down and my blood pressure was very low.  The doctors and nurses at Clarian did a really good job.  I also had alot of prayers for me and I know that God can do wonderful things.  I recovered alot quicker than they expected me to and I really believe that if it weren't for the prayers, I wouldn't have.   Candy
