Diet question

Hey everyone!!  I have just one question.  Here goes... I have my classes in January and I'm hoping to have a surgery date of sometime in February.  I haven't told anyone in my family I having the surgery except my very supportive husband and sister.  So, I wanted to drop some pounds on my own before the surgery anyway.  I was wondering if there was a certain "diet" if you want to call it that, that I could kind of put myself on to maybe prepare myself for what kinds of foods I will be eating after surgery?  You know, to gradually get into the good habits and look at the right numbers before my surgery so it will be more familiar to me after surgery. Any ideas? Thanks!! Sam

It would be similar to the Atkins diet. Tons of protein, very limitied carbs if any. You should focus mostly on protein then veggies, then a few carbs/starches. Might want to switch to Splenda now too. Any kind of deli meat, cheese, chicken, turkey, hamburger, yogert, beans, cottage cheese, protein shakes if you can tolerate them. Just a few suggestions. Good luck!

I am pre-op and in my 3 rd month of my pcp mand. visits. I quit eating sugar, bad carbs, and pop. I had became diabetic so I call what I do more of a diabetic way of eating and I have lost 32 pounds. I drink 64-80 ozs. of water a day. 32 ozs. crystal light and if any pop, very very rarely it is caff. free diet coke but that is a treat so I can get all my water in. First 2 weeks was very hard but it gets alot easier and know It is just a way of life for me. I keep food journals and keep track of my blood sugar. I eat meats, veggies, cheese lots of cheese, low sugar foods, no sugar added foods. Good Luck Shanna
