Can ANYONE Help???
Ok Fellow Hoosier Losers,
As most of you are aware I am the Site Director for our school Before and After Care Program, well we are revamping the program and I am now required to have daily craft and academic projects for the children to do! I have surfed the web for many hours as well as been to the local library for help but am still wondering if any of you out there could offer some more assistance!
I am looking for crafting ideas for K-8- our breakdown of groups is
K-1
2-3
4-5
6-8
the lowest amount that I have had is 93 and have had 157 as my highest!
I was wondering if anyone might have any old copies of HIGHLIGHTS or Family Fun, or anything that might have crafting ideas! I would be happy to meet with ya and pick them up! Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated! Also, if you have any academic age appropriate books that your children may have outgrown or copies of pages that I could copy/borrow would also be helpful!
Thanks everyone for reading! I am off to school to start the new week! Have a great day! Hugz Dawn

Dawn,
I was the children's ministry coordinator for several years at my church. I have TONS of magazines and may even have some supplies. I think Troy just boxed it all up for me a few days ago. Let me find it all and I'll mail it to you.
Some of it will be geared toward Christian activities but can be easily adapted to any topic. I have Highlights and Family Fun and other magazines as well.
Is your mailing address in the directory? If not, please send me a message with it and I'll get this stuff out to you ASAP.
A quick and easy idea is the peanut birdy sandwiches: Toast bread, spread cheap peanut butter on both sides. Press in plates of birdseed. Place in a sandwich bag to take home. We put an old Christmas tree outside our window and had the kids put them on the tree so we could watch the birds eat all of them. I've also seen pinecones used instead of bread. With the toast you have nothing left over though.
Have fun with this! I had a blast doing all of the crafts. The kids I had were ages 2 years old through 5th grade.
Another resource is orientaltrading.com They have lots of cheap craft kits. You get everything you need and each project is only pennies per unit. If you get on their mailing list, they will send you tons of books for free to order from. I still get them and look at each one page by page. They have some great stuff.
I'll go through my computer too. I did lesson plans for most of my activities. There was a meal, a game, a story and a craft for each topic.
Sounds like a lot of fun for you! Enjoy!
Blessings,
Jacqui
Jacqui,
Thanks so much for the info!
I actually have planned the birdseed/bread activity- we are using lard though instead of peanut butter- I have 3 children that are allergic to peanuts so anything not peanut safe has to be revised!
Someone also said that I might try using honey instead of the peanutbutter as well! But I am thinking that MAY be TOO messy for my Kindergartners!LOL!!! We are using cookie cutters and bread slices!
My mailing address is on the directory but my cell # on there is incorrect! It just changed, and since Floyd is on vacation right now the change will have to come later!
I do also receive the catalog from Oriental Trade as well as Kipp Brothers, that being said the school administrators like for me to try and get things that are not in a kit for the majority of the projects, but every once in awhile, I splurge and spend the little extra! I know that they are fairly inexpensive but when I am crafting at least 100-150 a day, everyday, it adds up!
Thanks for the help and if you find your goodies please let me know! I appreciate it and the helpful tips, too!

Dawn,
Rockport is about as far away south from Indy as you can get and still be in Indiana. I do have my 3 month checkup coming up either this Thursday or next Thursday. I think it's next week but will know for sure tomorrow when I check my calendar at work. I can leave them somewhere for you if you'd like or I could drop them by your school. I'll need directions. I haven't made it to a clothing exchange yet so I have no idea how to get there. I have more magazines than I thought and it would cost a fortune to mail them all! I'm so glad they're going to be used though. I just can't make myself throw them away!
I'll post tomorrow and let you know when I'll be in Indy. I hope we can meet up.
Sleep tight!
Jacqui
Meeting up when you come for your checkup would be great! We could post and maybe some others might join us, if you have time! Let me know what time and what date and we can set something up, ok?
Thanks again, I can definately put them to good use. The children will enjoy them as well!
