Jana some times it just happens. This is what the problem has been with me since day 1 and 80% of the time theres no known cause (I have had strictures and an ulcer and stuff a few times though). Keep your head up! It does get better.. What do they have you on for nausea?

Dear Jana, I was sick and had many issues with my stomach, it always saying  "are we ready to rumble". I just took it 1day at a time and always praying that this would be the time some food would stay down. I think I had a total of 5 scopes. But when you feel like you really need to to the hospital: GO. you don't want to second guess yourself. Try liquid like foods for a while. I will put you in my prayers. Love ya. Just hang in there. Hugs and Blessings, Gail

I agree with everybody once again. You must remember to chew VERY small bites and remember to measure.. and dont forget you cant drink you must sip and NOT drink while your eatting.. I would eat something and then take a drink and darn if it wouldnt just slide right back up! SLOW is the key word and remember no liquid 1/2 hour before or 1/2 hour after eatting.. there is a reason for these instructions... Just wish I had learned them earlier..  So been there done that I am almost 3 years out and STILL have to remember that drinking after the eatting part... I dont throw it up but I get major burping while the liquid tries to find a place.. like filling a glass up with ice then pouring in the sugar free koolaid... it has to wiggle its way to it;s own space and causes air pockets.. Jana I get the nausea sometimes and feel like throwing up if I eat something that is to dry, such as a hard boiled egg by itself or hamburger since I get the really lean kind.  I usually have to take a sip of water to get it to go on down.  Sometimes, I just go get sick and then it is better.  If you are on nothing for nausea ask your doc if they could give you something.  But like many others said, you might have to eat very soft liquid foods.  Good luck and I hope you get to feeling better soon. Please describe what and how much you are eating at each meal.  You have to measure or weigh or both.  I bought 2 ounces cups at GFS and used them for 3 months to make sure I was following the plan. I really only ate instant mashed potato made with chicken flavored powdered protein for 3 months with sugar free Popsicles.   Many complain I want something different.  I just wanted to train the new me that old habits made me abuse food.  I will learn to like food in portions that are healthy for me and food that is good for me.  Hang in there and get connected with a good support person. God Bless

Jana, I hope you are doing better today. Are you keeping water &/or liquid protein down? Try to JUST keep them down first..ok? If water turns your stomach, try sugar-free popcycles. The important thing is to not get dehydrated. It's a vicious cycle because the more dehydrated you are, the less you are able to keep down liquids. So sip constantly. If the protein shakes are giving you problems, try other liquid sources of protein. Skim milk or lactose-free milk (try either with sf chocolate mix if you don't like milk). Swanson's has a chicken broth that is 4-5 g of protein per serving. Check the labels to see which one it is. Let that be your 'food' for a few days until your tummy feels better. Try a little sugar-free jello as well. No protein, but will help your tummy get use to 'food'. Then add fat-free cottage cheese for a day or two. If that does well, add cream of brocolli or another cream soup. Slowly add foods to your diet..but start with liquids and gradually work your way up to where you should be for as far out as you are at that time. Also, if you eat a few bites and your tummy starts to flip, stop, and try again later. Sometimes our new tummys just have to get reacclimated to getting food again. Just as you wouldn't expect a newborn to eat Cherrios until they've gone through the formula-baby cereal-baby food-soft food-finger food stages, don't expect your baby pouch to either. Take baby steps with it. Also, just because the yellow pages says that after 4 or 6 weeks you can eat 3 oz, it does not mean that you HAVE to eat 3 oz per meal. Eat until full (or queezyness starts), then quit and call it a meal. Please keep us up on how you're doing..ok? Sherri
