Peanut butter question for St. V's patients..

Do any of you eat peanut butter? I know that it's listed on the back page of foods to avoid to maximize weight loss but I notice like everyone else is allowed it and although I'm not a huge peanut butter fan I wouldn't mind a teaspoon here or there, not to mention how high in protein it is. Is one kind better than the other? Should I try to ask the nuts about it or what?

The only peanut butter I have had is in the SF peanut butter cookies I made...I think I would ask the NUT about it...I have heard that since it is real sticky its not so poucy friendly for awhile  BUT I would LOVE to have some...peanut butter is a FAVORITE of mine! I love it on celery sticks! hugggggggggs Janene

Lord, keep me in your will so I won't be in your way.

Heh Janene ya I was thinking celery and pb but I dunno I'm tooo skeered now lol. My weight loss has slowed down a bit and I will probally wait til I'm a bit closer to goal.

The St. V nuts frown on peanut butter, they told me so.  It's not bad as a protein source, but high in fat compared to our allowed proteins.  That being said ... I've been known to enjoy a tiny pb sandwich every now and then.  I use one slice of light wheat bread and a thin layer of reduced fat and sugar Jiff.  No pouch problems for me, as long as I carefully chewed.

I think I'll probally hold off for a bit longer. Although it will help me increase my calories the fat content even in the natural NSA ones is kinda scary.. I will email the nuts and see what they say but most likely will probally hold off til I get closer to goal.

So you are able to tolerate bread Jessica? That is nice to hear. I know I cant go crazy on it, but would like to be able to have a little here and there. What foods have you found that you cant tolerate?

Honestly, so far I've been able to tolerate everything except lettuce.  I was most surprised that I could eat popcorn.  As long as I chew slowly and carefully, bread goes down fine, but I don't eat it often.  Dry meat is the toughest, so I make sure to have a little sauce or something handy.

I know I can't tolerate peanut butter because of the fat content. I have tried even though I know I wasn't supposed to. Whenever I try anthing with a higher fat content it makes me nauseated. I have only vomited about 4-5 times and one of them was when I ate peanut butter. I was going to use 2 tbsp and put it on celery sticks and I didn't even get it all down before it came back up. I have had sugar free peanut butter cookies and they did not bother me. However I did make a peanut butter protein drink and just the 1 1/2 teaspoon of the peanut butter made me so nauseated it isn't worth trying it again for a long time. I think the reason I was able to tolerate that SF cookie is that it was not that concentrated in just one cookie. I know it is the fat content because when I tried some ranch dip on fresh veggies and I had not read the label (because I was at a social function) it made me icky too! There have been other things that I have figured out that were higher in fat and I felt the same way. So its gotta be the FAT, just what I'm trying to get rid of!!!!!

I like soy nut butter, it's a little lower in fat.  You can get it low sugar as well.
