Good Morning to you all! I'm not able to sleep cause I can't get comfortable and the breathing treatments have my jittery and my heart racing so I figured I'd start this mornings thread. It's about 3:30 a.m. Fun stuff!!! By the time you all read this I'll hopefully be getting  a little bit of rest. I have a busy day ahead though. Have to go get an antibiotic shot and a lung check and all that fun stuff and make some phone calls and grocery shop and everything. I bought some Biotin! I'm praying for Gail and her man friend. I'm really worried about her she's soo sad and down!! Keep your head up sweetie! LaChelle - Any word on Jimmy's job situation with Wal-Mart? Geez another reason I cannot sleep is I have umteen billion thoughts racing through my brain. How fun is that?? hehe Gotta love these nights.

Wal-Mart supposedly hires part time and likes to code you that way even when your full time. If your full time you get full blown insurance (Blue cross blue shields) 6 months after starting and if your part time you don't get it for 2 years. When I worked there they didn't even let PT'ers get insurance. I was full time but when I would have my bad asthma flares I'd miss a couple days here or there. Then after Christmas of 05 they cut my hours back to 30 hours a week and took my insurance because I was not working 34 hours a week for an extended period of time. I ended up quitting summer of 06 after close to 3 years. You know it's weird though. Some stores when you talk to the employees they LOVE their job and its the best company they've ever worked for and at my store I hated it and it was the worst. I did my interview, drug test and all that and got a call back that evening and was told I was hired BUT they never called me to start orientation til a few days later. It scared the crap out of me because I thought they changed their minds.

Good morning all! I bet you cant all guess where I am.....yes work! LOL! I will probably end up in the Dr office or ER with my daughter if she dont get to feeling better.  She has been out all week from school not feeling well.  She has stomach issues and I had her to the Dr. couple weeks ago and he said that if it persists he wants to do an endoscopy on her.  So, I am going to call him and see what he wants to do.  Other than that, nothing much going on. Misty I hope you get some rest Lachelle still praying that Jimmy gets his job. Have a good day all

Jenny - I sure hope your daughter feels better. Thats not fun at all. What kinda stomach problems is she having?  GI stuff or like girly stuff?? I managed to catch bout 2 hours of shut eye before waking up this time but I  almost panicked because my chest was tight and I couldn't find my inhaler and could NOT get up to get to the nebulizer as soon as I woke up. Got me a treatment though so right now it's settled down.

She is having GI problems.  The dr gave her Protonix a couple weeks ago and that hasnt helped.  Her dr said that there is an ulcer that is contagious and he thought it was ironic that she started having this around the time I found out I got my ulcer, he wasnt sure what kind I had and neither was I to know if it was the contagious type.

Wow poor girl. I can sympathize. I had pretty nasty GERD and GI issues for a couple years when I didn't have insurance and I would go to my PCP who wanted me to get screened for Crohns and a few other things when I was 19-21ish but I never could afford it. When I finally got insurance and could have an Upper GI run it showed pretty bad reflux and stuff. They never did a lower GI though because they said that the GERD like it was most likely was the whole deal. Some of the nausea too I think was the beginning of the diabetes because he mentioned that my glucose levels were high but when he did a1c's it was just pre-diabetes and I noticed after the diagnosis when my sugar got too high I'd get the shakes, sweats, nausea, vomiting all that stuff too. It was weird. I never got diagnosed with my ulcer til post op though.

Good morning everyone! I am SO looking forward to seeing my OH buddies today! Cindy..I'm sorry you won't be able to make it. I'll be sure to take pics & get them posted on my Picture Trails! If anyone else would like to come, you're welcome! We're meeting at Max & Erma's (US 31N/North Meridian at what was 126th..it's West something now..regardless of what it's called, it's the first light south of St. Vincent Carmel. It's on the east side of the road by a little strip mall). I think Ellen plans on being there ~12:15. Jacqui has her 3 month check-up and will be there as soon as she gets done with that (~12:30 or so). And then there is me, Dawn, Gail, Hope, and Annette. I'm looking forward to meeting Jacqui for the first time and it's going to be great seeing Hope for the 1st time since August! Of course, I am looking forward to seeing all of the other ladies as well!  I've got a few questions for you all... How do you prepare/eat Mango's? I had bought a few to try and thought you'd peel & eat. I think I was pretty wrong about that. I looked it up on FoodTV.com but I just couldn't get a mental image of what they meant. On that same line...anyone have any experience with artichokes? I bought a can of artichoke hearts to try (haven't yet though). If I like them, I'd like to learn how to prepare them from scratch. How about plantains? You know, those things that look like banana's. If anyone has any experience/knowledge in preparing/cooking these not so common fruits & veggies (as well as any other non-common ones!)..mind doing me a favor? How about giving us a little cooking class in using these? Once my intestines return to normal, I am going to have to watch any of the starchy veggies again probably (due to hypogycemia) so I'd like to have some variety of veggies (and fruits) in mind for if/when that happens (or even if it doesn't happen since we love fruits & veggies). Cindy...do you? Perhaps some of that could be incorporated with your Pampered Chef party if you do. Does anyone who lives in the Indy area know how to do alterations on clothes? Jodi's mom gave me a suade shirt/jacket (It's made more like a shirt than a jacket). I spent $35 to get it dry cleaned which did  remove the perfume (sorry Jo but I think your mom must have wore a bottle of it when she wore it and my asthma didn't like it) and they also replaced a missing bead. But...they didn't get rid of a stain on the front side of it. It's low enough that I think the shirt could be shortened to get rid of it. It's also a little bit big on me so if someone knows how to take it in as well that would be great..if it's not too expensive. Afterall, I already paid $35 for a 'free' shirt. If you live anywhere near the eastside and feel comfortable altering suade, let me know so I can get it to you to get an estimate...ok?  Floyd & Brenda..how is Spencer doing? I'm sorry you had to come home from a wonderful vacation to learn your baby wasn't doing very well.  You all have a good day today!! Sherri

Sherri - I don't think I've ever had Mangos that weren't canned and I just ate them like that. Never tried artichokes or plantains. I'm curious of the response you get.

Hi Sherri ( and everyone else! ) I have had mangos before and they are messy!  Delicious, but messy!  They have a very large pit and the fruit is stringy close to the pit.  You basically have to peel it and then cut it away from the  pit.  Once that is done, you can cut it into strips or cubes. I was thinking about trying out a sugar free recipe for chocolate fondue for the Pampered Chef party.  I'm not too sure how mangos would go with that, but I'll pick up a couple anyway.  A related fruit is a papya.  These are not as sweet as a mango. They are more tangy.  I haven't had one in years. As for other fruits and veggies, have you ever tried Star Fruit or Jicama (pronounced hicama)?   Star fruit is a very mild citrus type fruit.  It should be just a little soft and you can eat the whole  thing, peel, seeds and all.  Jicama is also known as the mexican potato.  It is kind of squat and round with a yellowish/tan peel.  It has the taste and consistancy of a cross between a pear and  a potato (just a hint of sweetness).  It is really good raw, but won't last long once peeled and cut (just a few days in the fridge).  There are only about 35 calories in a whole one.  I might pick up  one of those for the party too. Hope you enjoy some of these.  And I look forward to seeing some of you at my Pampered Chef party.
Cindy
