venting again
so i called the insurance company, after no response yet from colleen. they proceed to tell me that they cannot give me any information on the status of my preauthorization (not even whether or not they have received my file), that my dr has to call for that info. dr inmans office says it is my responsibility to check my status. i am getting nowhere. i realize it is not a quick process and in the big picture this is minor but it is still frustrating. all i want is someone to say "yes, your file has been sent" or "no, we are still working on it". am i being too whiny about this??
No you're not being whiny on this. The insurance company is 100% wrong about it ... you absolutely can call to check the status. In fact it's more your job than the surgeon's office job. That's why Colleen asks for you to check. Just tell the insurance company it's YOUR health insurance, not the specialists insurance, therefore YOU have the right to check on it. If they still hassle you, demand to speak to a supervisor, eventually to the medical director if necessary. Good luck!
