Tuesday Morning....
Good morning everyone!
We're being a little slow on the thread starting this morning, huh? Ah well, you all are probably using that extra few minutes in the morning to clear off your car & sidewalks. Here on the NE side (~38th & Shadeland), looking out the window, there's enough snow to make the roads & sidewalk white but my SUV has very little coverage and you can definately see the grass just fine. I know we're suppose to get more, but so far, not much at all. I would imagine LaChelle got hit pretty good though. The news was showing last night to where southern Indiana was suppose to get alot. You all are welcome to mine & Bill's share!
Thanks to the big snow, not many plans for today. I have a stack of CD's waiting to go on my pc so I can put them on my MP3. Maybe I'll get started on that today.
I hope Ellen's grandbabies are doing better today.
Oh...my hair decided it was time to fall out...again. Which is about right. It's been ~4.5 months since all those surgeries. I am SO glad I've been taking the biotin & drinking the extra protein!!! I'd be bald right now if I didn't I think. For me, this usually lasts a few months. And then I'll get a month or so reprieve and then it'll start falling out again from the March 3rd surgery! And Bill wonders why I prefer short hair!!
Hey...a reminder for new folks...be sure to get your info to Floyd for the Hoosier Directory!! ([email protected]). He'll be working on updating it and sending the Feb. version out soon. Include your: name, address, email, user name, phone numbers, spouse name, anniversary date, surgery date, birthdate. This directory allows us to contact each other when needed, to send little cards to, etc. Also, since it includes people all accross the state, when knowing that you are going to be in an area other than your own, it has the contact information so that you can see if they'd like to get together to meet. It is NOT for sending funnies or spam. If you have an interest in participating in a 2nd chance draw for Secret Elf, you must be on the directory (no invitation will be sent to anyone not on it).
You all have a really good day!!

Kathlene,
This is something I wrote up a few weeks ago concerning the Secret Elf program:
Thank you for your interest in the Elf Angels. Ee called it 'Secret Angels' in 2007. This year though, I switched to using a program called Elfster (thank you Floyd!!). It does the 'draw' for me and it is totally random. The 'rules' of participating are:
1. Your information must be included in the Hoosier Directory (If it isn't, please send Floyd a note at [email protected]. For the Subject line, I'd put 'Hoosier Directory'. In the message part, include your full name, screen name, spouse/bf name, address, phone number (if you feel comfortable with others having it), anniversary date, birthdate, surgery date.
2. Males and Females are both welcome & encouraged to participate..not just women. In fact, we have several men who are participating. It also doesn't matter if you are pre or post-op. We all need to know we are cared about!
3. To participate, it is expected that you contact your person somehow at least once a month (for all of 2008) to show that you care about them (with keeping your identity a secret if at all possible). This can be done via sending an ecard, card, and/or small gift. We do ask that it NOT be an ecard every month. And please note that it does not have to be an expensive gift...just a little token that says 'I'm thinking about you' is what really matters. Myself, I usually stick with cards except for their special dates (birthdays, surgiversary, anniversary, holidays). That's when I try to send a little gift. Also, if you see it posted that your person is going through something that they could use an encouraging word (surgery, sickness, divorce, kids, etc), that would be a good time for a 'I'm thinking about you' card.
4. As a recipient, we do ask that when your secret Elf does something nice for you, please drop a note here to say thank you...so that they know that you have recieved it. I added this because I STILL do not know for sure if my person from 2007 recieved the floral & candle arrangements I had gotten her for Christmas & her birthday in December.
That's all the rules. Now..for timing. I did start posting way back in November and the initial draw was the first weekend in January. Does that mean anyone else is SOL? No. But you do have to wait a little bit. After I recieve the Hoosier Directory update in MARCH and/or after I feel up to it after my surgery March 3rd, I will be setting up a 2nd chance drawing. That gives 1 month for anyone who wishes to be included to be sure they are in the Directory AND to send me an email ([email protected]) letting me know that they wish to be included. Only those people will be included in that draw. It would be unfair to those who were signed up for it at the first of the year to have new names drawn for them too. As I have recieved emails from people, I have been including them in a 2nd chance email group so that I don't leave anyone out. As of today, I only have one name in it (Rebekah Mason). So if others wish to be included, they need to contact me through my email addy above (not through here guys..ok?).
Obviously, I'm not going to set up a new group every few months or so. If I don't have several more people expressing interest in this 2nd one, I'll pu**** out a little later. After that one though, there won't be anymore new draws set up until ~October 1st...maybe. It depends on the amount of interest in it at the time.
Let me know if you have any further questions about it.

Good morning all!
Already been out on a ambulance call this morning. At least it wasnt a wreck. Nothing much going on here today. We didnt get much snow either....darn it! It is still wanting to snow outside.
I am still trying to fight this darn chest cold. I am better than I was over the weekend. It seems it is all moving into my nasal cavity and stopping me up. Nothing that a couple squirts of nose spray doesnt cure.
Well everyone have a good day and if you have to get out, be careful!
We got lucky, Sherri......only about 1" of snow, but we had more freezing rain and sleet than anything. It is raining now tho, so that will help clear it off quickly. The girls didn't have school here, so they got to sleep in and so did I! LOL Gotta love that.
Well, we went to the eye dr. yesterday.......I wound up getting contacts. No problem wearing them, but I can't get the darn things out to save my life!!! I had to sleep in them last night because I tried until I couldn't anymore to get them out. Oh well. I will figure it out if it is the last thing I do! LOL Jimmy has to have bifocals........he isn't too thrilled about having glasses, especially bifocals. He needs them tho, so of course he is going to wear them! LOL
Have a great day all. I am not going to do a thing today, and just play the lazy card for a change.
At Goal! 165 pounds gone forever! Thank you Lord!

LaChelle,
I've been wearing contacts for over 20 years now. I remember the first time I tried to get them out. You'll get used to it. Just reach in with your finger and scrape them out! It sounds horrible but that's how it's done. If you have long fingernails, bend your fingers and use the nuckles on your first and middle fingers.
Good luck!
Jacqui
LaChelle,
Since you slept in them they may be dry and stuck to your eye a bit. Use some of your solution like eyedrops and moisten them up before you try to remove them. Just drop a few drops in each eye and wait about 30 seconds before you try to take them out. I've slept in mine many, many times and have found this works best.
You'll get the hang of it in no time!

Good Morning All!
It looks like we got all the snow and ice down here in Rockport. We've got about 6 inches of snow with 1 inch of ice. Guess it's our turn. This is the first winter-like blast we've had yet. My daughter is thrilled! She's at my parents house today with a day planned full of sledding and hot chocolate. I made a huge pot of chili last night and took a bunch to them this morning when I dropped Luci off.
I'm also the only one in the whole building today. I guess my SUV is the only vehicle that could trudge through the mess. I'm expecting the day to be slow with noone here so if anyone wants to chat this may be my only day to do it! I'm supposed to have my board meeting (bored meeting, teehee) tonight but it will probably be cancelled.
Hope everyone is safe and warm.
Blessings,
Jacqui
