I am pretty upset over Doctor Inman. I know she is considered one of the top ones but I am down to the last straw! Its been two weeks now and I still do not have a surgery date. I called them and I was told she is taking off some days coming up and now have to reschedule those patients. I believe this is not counting her time she is taking off in March. its looking more like not having the surgery until June.  ( I do understand that she has a life outside of being a surgeon) okay maybe I am just venting. But the wait is so fustrating

I can understand your frustration, Robin.  After fighting my insurance company for several months, I finally got my approval in December. I phoned Dr. Inman's office immediately and foolishly thought that I would be scheduled within a couple of weeks...wrong! It actually was two weeks before I received my surgery date and I was stunned to learn that I was not scheduled until April 30th! How could this be?! I was ready to go right away but now had to wait almost four months. Yikes! After I calmed myself down, I realized that things happen for a reason. I have been overweight for so long and I am so desperate to have this surgery that I expect it to be urgent to everyone. Obviously, this can't be the case. Dr. Inman has a sterling reputation and I definitely want to have the best surgeon available to me, so I chose to wait for her. Colleen, the office manager, was difficult to reach by phone but she responded promptly to my emails and went the extra mile to help with the insurance stuff. In their defense, I know that they are swamped and as I said, everyone wants to believe that their surgery is more urgent than someone else's. Dr. Inman's office handles so many cases, I am sure that they get overwhelmed sometimes. My sister had Dr. Inman for her RNY over a year ago. She came home from the hospital after two days and returned to her job in two weeks. ( She is a nurse at a clinic.) So far, she has lost 110 pounds and she feels great. She has followed Dr. Inman's instructions to the letter and has nothing but praise for her care.  I know that there are many good surgeons out there and if you choose to go with someone else, I am sure that none of them would fault your reasoning. Do whatever feels right to you. I wish you luck and I will envy you in some ways if you are able to schedule sooner with another surgeon. I still believe that Dr. Inman is worth waiting for though.  Good luck! Marsha

I went with Doctor Inman because she is the best. I just wished everyone else didn't know that :) I know I have to be patient. at least I can be thankful for actually getting approved. I am just fustrated by it all.  It may get better when I find out my surgery date.  I will try calling them monday and see what I get.

To be completely honest, thats why I chose Dr. Mattar. He is the director of the center and I was checking on his other patients and their surgery dates weren't as far out as Inmans. Also the fact that she is in two different Bariratric centers, I figured she would be a long wait. The consult itself was a month and a half wait. So good luck gettign your date. shanna

I suggest you email Colleen rather than call.  I had my surgery with Dr. Evanson, who is Dr. Inman's partner.  Colleen is much more easy to rech by email than phone, you're much more likely to get a response that way.  If you don't have her email address, ask the person who answers the phone for it.  Good luck!

I think Dr. Inman is great, myself.  She did a wonderful job for me. The way it worked out for me, was that I got approved before I knew they had submitted the insurance papers! I thought I was only on month 3 of my 6 months dr. supervised diet! So I was blessed with not being on pins and needles waiting on a date. My surgery date was only 5 weeks later. I think I got in so quickly becuase who else would want to have gastric bypass 2 days before Thanksgiving, LOL!  That being said, you need to feel confident in your surgeon in all aspects. If you aren't happy, I would say it couldn't hurt to look around. I think lots of people on here think Inman is great, but lots of people think other docs are great too, like Gupta and Jones and Evanson. Do what you need to do. (Unless you want the DS, in which case no one else in Indiana does that. Sorry!)

I have heard a lot of people have a lot of good things to say about Dr Inman. I don't know her personally, just know what I've seen on here. You don't have to go with her if you don't want to have a long wait. You have your approval and if it's going to take 4-6 mo or whatever to get your date I would seriously consider switching. That's just my personal opinion. I went with Dr Mattar at Clarian Bariatric center and he was SOOO wonderful. He did my lap RYN and my gallbladder surgery. He has the best bedside manner and I got my date within a day of getting my insurance approval and had my surgery 2 weeks after my approval. You know what's best for you and if you feel she is worth waiting for go for it. Whatever you choose I wish you the best of luck! Julie
