Elf?

Can someone explain to me what this elf stuff is about.  I think it might sound like something I would be interested in...........if my perception of it is right from some of the posts I've read. 

Dawn, The Elfster program is  a Secret Pal thing. Electronically, it's a random drawing for those who are invited to, and they've accepted to, participate. It is only open to those who are on the Hoosier Directory (if you aren't on it, send Floyd a note). To participate, the person is agreeing to remembering the person that was drawn for them at a MINIMUM of once per month. It can be by ecard (but not EVERY month), snail-mail card (GREATLY appreciated!!), small gift, etc. We do try to do something a little more special for special holidays (ie, Christmas) or important dates in their lives (birthdays, anniversaries, surgery anniversaries). The next draw will not take place until July 1st but I'll be sending out the emails to those who have abided by the rules early in June so that they will have an opportunity to respond to the invitation. Those who are not on the directory..or have shown in previous draws that they don't think of their person as they had agreed to will not recieve an invitation as it wouldn't be fair to those who do play by the rules to include them.
