update on me
Hi everyone,
For the newbies, or for everyone who's been on here for a while, and I just haven't, my name is Sarah Jones and I'm from up by Fort Wayne about 20 miles north. I had RNY on December 14, 2005. Dr. Cacucci at ST. V's. Started at 258 goal 140. I made it to goal in about 15 months I think. I was one of those slow losers. I fluctuate between 135-145 pounds. I absolutlely will not let myself get past 145. When I see the number creep up there I get on fitday.com and track every single thing that goes in my mouth. I have some weird eating patterns although Marta the nurse at Dr. C.'s office told me she does this too. For about a week or so, I feel like and I can eat a lot. Like I have a 40 oz tummy again. I'm hungry all the time. Then I will go the next couple of weeks and can hardly get 1200 calories in. Kinda weird. My only complications ahve been low vitamin D, low Iron, and I have to watch what prescription meds I take. I absorb them differently now so they affect me quick and more severe. For instance Ambien, I had a dream and I got up and drove to Auburn completely asleep and wrecked my car. I also do or say weird things with some cold medicines. The only other complications are completely my fault. . Eat to much I get the foamies, never have thrown up food. I do still dump off of too much sugar or high fight. I still know if I can tolerate food as soon as I take the first bite, its like my mouth starts to water if the food won't work. I have found that I can build my tolerance up to sugary things. For instance, I had been eating an ice cream sandwich as a snack once a week or so. When the scale crept up that 5 pounds, I got right back on program and for 3 weeks I ate nothing but what was on program. I lost nine pounds so I thought I would try an Ice cream sandwich, sounded good. I dumped, Like the worst since early surgery. Shows you that every thing, my bypass and little pouch still works if you work it.
Other news, my avatar is a picture with mt dad. Dad got a liver transplant Dec.1, 2007. He had hepatocellular carcinoma, the cure was a translant, when they examined his old liver after it was out they found another type of cancer, a very aggressive bile duct cancer. They thought it was still encased in the liver, but in the off chance one little cell got away they might do preventative chemo. 6 weeks later dad started to have shortness of breath and chest pain. They thought he had pneumonia, but guess what it was the bileduct cancer in his lung. the surgeons were in tears when they told us, because they had never seen it do this. Dad came home and is taking comfort measures, He panics when he can't breathe, so they are trying to make him comfortable. he is in the Hospital right now, because he had a real bad attack on Friday. His white cell count is 1.3. He is doing better today. We were so sad when we found out, devastated, but God works out the good for those who trust him. We are lucky in that we get to say the things we need and want to say to each other, but his new liver is working so well, he was getting back to my "old dad" before thi****
So the trial of dealing with emotions without stuffing my face is another trial God is giving me and today is going well. Keep us in your prayers. I may not post a lot, but I check on you all daily. I'm doing good and hope you all are too. When I told my dad's liver doctor I had RNY, he stressed how important taking the vitamins are for your liver to continue to function well. I take mine religously, but he said he has seen a few GBP come in years after with severe liver problems.
Sorry so long.
Sarah
Certainly will add your needs to out prater list.
God Bless

2 Chronicles 16:9
For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou has done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. I know it's hard. I had an uncle that was diagnosed with lung ca and passed away within 6 mo, but then I had my grnadfather who was diagnosed with it and then they went to do surgery and it was just gone. That was 15 yrs ago and he is still here. God does work in mysterious ways. I pray you all will get through this.

Sarah,
It has been a LLLOONNGGG time! I am happy to hear that you are doing well on your journey- except for tracking, but that is pretty normal! Your pic with your dad is a great pic! I am so sorry to hear of his medical issues and hope that you can have the best of times with him! My MIL passed with cancer in 95, but I am so grateful that we knew and were able to enjoy those last few months and say what we needed and do what ever she wanted for herself till the end! It is hard to face things and deal with the loss at the end, but having the opportunity to share what we were able to helped alot!
I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers! Keep posting, we miss ya! Hugz Dawn
