Had RNY in 2003 Help
Hi
First, welcome back!! I don't know where you are in your recovery, but can say that calling a Dietician helps. Getting back to basics, and posting here daily are so important for my recovery.I need the folks here and they are a wonderful source of inspiration & help.
What I find works is to-drink your water- eat your protien first-veggies/fruit next- limit your carbs. & some regular exercise daily.Plus journaling my feelings helps as well. Alot of times I eat when my emotions are a mess, so writing it out helps. When I can't get exercise in I try to do something to compensate- walk my wallway, clean, put on music and dance- anything to keep from getting "cabin fever".
Keep focusing on "what can I do today to be more healthy" and write out positive thoughts ,put them by your bed, in your car, by the phone, on the mirror, wherever you'll see them, and know we are here for you.
Sending lots of (((((((((((((gentle hugs))))))))))))))))) to you.
Ellen

Hi Christina,
I am four years out as well. I had mine 10/08/03 with Dr. Inman. Have you had a regain? Or just staying the same (not a bad thing at all!) I gained 25 lbs. Considering I used to weigh an all time high of 376..that 25 lb regain is a blip on the screen..providing I do something about it!
Do you have access to a dietician? If you had your surgery at St.V's in Carmel..you could get with a dietician and they could direct you from there. If not at St. V's..you could perhaps contact a dietician at Clarion..they are so wonderful there ..I must say! So impressed with how supportive they are to the whole gastric byapss population..not just people who had their surgery there.
There you go..I just had an idea..you live in Indy..go to one of the Clarion support group meetings
and ask Ruthann for help. Or you could call the center and ask..
If you look through the threads here you'll find info on the Clarion group meetings etc.. I suggest also another site online that might be beneficial to you..it's called Life afterWLS by Kaye Bailey.
All you got to do is google her name and you'll find all the info you need and than some! I do highly recommend getting yourself physically back into the support group enviroment for now anyway..till you feel you have a handle on things. Just my .02!
Good luck!!

Hi Christina,
It just so happens there is a Clarian support group meeting tomorrow night from 6:00 to 7:30. They are located in Intech Park, at Intech 11, Suite 100. If you send me a pm telling me where you are coming from I can give you directions. I plan on attending.
I am a former patient of Dr Clark's too. I switched to Clarian (not required to attend their support groups) because I thought they were so caring. Ruthanne and Anessa are the best! Please join us tomorrow night. You will definitely be welcome.
Cindy
I have to agree with the others here about Clarian and the NUTs that are there. Ruthann and Annesa are the sweetest ladies. Ruthann told me she felt like my Mom and would come to my house and make sure I took my vitamins if she could. LOL I really have enjoyed the people at Clarian. I have to say I have not been able to attend a support group meeting but would love too. I know it is helpful. Also, you can always do the 5 day pouch test. I ahve heard it works wonders and kicks folks back into the weight loss regime. Good luck!

See??? There's hope yet! The 5 day pouch test was mentioned....that is from Kaye Bailey! Check out her site. Go to the support group meetings..I'll be there tomorrow night at the Clarion meeting..I'm from St. V's but I feel welcome there too(Clarion)! Ruthann used to be the dietician running the St. V meetings! Yup..Clarion is soooo lucky to have her and Neesa(sp?) I went to one of the cooking sessions..cool! St. V's is good..really they are..but they could really learn from what Clarion is offering as support to their patients..it is really good I must say!
