I recived lots of news today that was very exciting......#1 I was able to get into my OBGYN tommorrow for my Mirena IUD. I fought with the ladies in billing about what my insurance will pay. They kept telling me they wanted 660.00 up front before they would do it, because I needed to pay all my out of pockets expenses for the year! UUHH NO! I do not have a deductable idiots!. WTF I called Anthem twice and each time they kept telling it was a 20.00 copay for the office visit and it would be covered. The ladies in billing I guess had called the wrong number for Anthem and was calling for Argentian Anthem. OMG Yes, thats what I said. They needed to speak to the Indiana Anthem group. finally 2 weeks later I call to see if I could get in because tthey do it when Mother nat. is here and I have to have it done 3-4 days after It starts. Welll thats today or tommorrow. anyway I call and leave 3 different messages. FINALLY the nurses call me back and verify all is good. 20.00 is all I need and will be covered. YES!!!!!SO tommorrow at 11;30 I will be getting my IUD99.99percent effective. AS close to sterilazation as you can get, so they say. Dr. Mattar said I was fine to leave it in during surgery. He doesn't want to hear that I am pregant before sugery. Ya me neither. This baby machine is retired! #2 I got a call from Kathy at Clarian and she has my surgery preop testing date! March 28. Woo hoo Things are rollin' along. Can things get any better? Well yeah a surgery date but I am not putting the horse before the cart just yet! Thanks for reading my rambling on and on.....Gotta get to bed. Need my Beauty sleep. LOL Have a great day Shanna

Thanks Amanda. It kinda feels weird to me that I have to worry about this subject because i couldn't get pregnant for the life of me for 10 years. I thought I never would have to worry about this again. I know that once i had Bella and started to lose the weight that with my luck I would get preg. again and I don't particularly like to be pregnant. I am not a good pregnant women.  Thanks Shanna

I hope you like Mirena. I considered it, but I really knew I was done, so the tubal ligation just made sense for me. They were going to be in there anyway, when I had Maggie, because I was having a scheduled c-section (had 2 before her, so it was just safer.) LoL, at my preop class, when they talked about fertility returning, I was like, "I'm sterilized, how fertile will I get? Do I need to do anything else, because if so I will." I am very done with baby-making. Three c-sections was enough on this body.  Glad you got the insurance figured out. Do you work for the state? Because i do, and I don't have a deductible either. Because I agree each year not to use tobacco. I tell you, I have been so tempted to return to smoking with all the stress with Mikey and the hospital, but I keep reminding myself, I don't have that $500 to meet deductibles!~

Yes my husband does. he is a corrections officer in Plainfield. I know that no deductable is awesome. My Insurance I had at that time I had Bella was Mplan thru St Francis Health Network so no...Birth control because of the religious aspects of it. So once I changed this past January I am like sign me up! I would like a tubal and or hysterectomy but I don't see that happening until after surgery! Hope you are doing better...;) Shanna

Congratulations!! Glad the billing staff finally figured out they were calling the wrong Anthem.  Oy.  No more babies for this chica either, but I let hubby get the big snip.  I've had 2 c sections and the second one almost killed me, so we were told no more babies.  I was like you at the consult when they mentioned increased fertility as a side effect...doesn't matter to me!  Here's hoping you get that surgery date soon!

I got my Mirena about a month before surgery.  They were leery to do it because I have never had children and am so young.  However I was (and still am) in a monogmous relationship so they went ahead.  Besides the "installation" pain I have had to problems at all.  I maybe get a period quarterly, no cramps, mood swings, and best of all, NO BABIES!  So I'm covered till 2010 which is alright by me.  You'll love it!  Sam

Shanna,  I'm glad you were able to get this worked out, but I wanted to let you in on some information - I work as an insurance biller and deal primarily with Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield accounts.  If the 3 letters at the beginning of your ID# are YR_, then Argentina IS the number we have to call for 1st line benefit info.  it is ****frustrating*****!!!   If you run into more trouble with your insurance, feel free to contact me adn I will do what I can to help you.
